Hello Folders,
Well, it looks like we've finished off the submissions for CASP 5, and are back to doing pseudo-blind testing with CASP 4. Basically, DF.org is continuing to try and refine their algorithm and approach to the folding problem, and are checking their method by folding proteins from CASP 4. As far as I know, these are fairly large proteins, and we are doing 10B folds of them. The final results are compared to the actual results (which are known from CASP 4). Results from CASP 5 will be out in December.
Well, the new protein is out from CASP 4, it's 105 AA's long, and it seems to be giving pretty good results. After just 5M structures, the best Pseudo-Energy is already at a 10.
Today's milestone makers:
muttley hits 20M folds!
Well, it's just muttley today. Congrats, man!
Top Folder: TA TheMagicman with 39M folds!
Best Pseudo-Energy: muttly with 10.98, currently stands in 8th place, overall. Great start!
Best Production: TA TheMagicman with 2.7M leads the way (statsman's top 1000 users hasn't been updated yet, and seems to be having some problems with the protein change, so your guess is as good as mine for a placing). Good job, anyway!
TeAm Stuff:
The TeAm continues shortening the gap. We're only 31M back, but our lead in production has shrunk to only 3.3M. Hopefully, that's just due to the protein change (it'll take a while for us to get going with all cylinders).
Daily Production: TeAm DF stays in the top 10, this time finishing 8th overall! Great stuff guys, hopefully we can permanently stay in the top 10.
No daily production info till statsman
