Hello Folders,

Well, today's turned out be to a big day, milestone-wise. Let's see...

Kris has broken the 70M Q) barrier!

Obitus passes 30M folds!

kmmatney climbs atop the 10M mountain!

ATJW310 makes it to 6M!

Congrat's MM's!!!

Top Folder: TA TheMagicman 87.4M folds! (haven't heard anything from him in a while, will be coming back now that MTR's are done?)
Best RMS: Insidious takes the lead. Great to see so much movement in this category in the last few days. His 9.8924 (just a hair's breadth away from my own 9.8963) puts him into 134!
Best Production: Kris once again impressive with a 787K for the day, putting him into 38th!

Producers Of the Day (POD's)

Kris 787K
kmmatney 597K
Insidious 414K
m0ti 408K

Congrats to the POD's!

TeAm Stuff:

Well, we've received the first signs of life after MTR! Robor has returned and brought folds with him! 150K in the last 6 hour span. Great to have you back!

Daily Production: A healthy 3.9M for the day. That puts us into 13th!

We need more... more... more! Let's give a push to get us back into the top 10!

My DF clients fired off this morning. I had to stop and start the service 2 times to get them going but they did take the update, download the new protein, and create a progress.txt file. I monitored them with KDFold through the day on and off and they appeared to be working but I think something's wrong. I've got 8 GX-240's (P4's w/256 RAM with the use extra RAM option). I had them all going by 9am and it's now 9 hours later. Shouldn't I have more than 150K out of them?

Hopefully I'm worrying over nothing and they'll spring to life!

Congrats to the milestone makers & thanks m0ti!

Actually, Baldy18 has moved on to D2OL for a while. He was actually one of the guys that got the ball rolling, team rah-rah wise. I know that he wanted to finish off a major milestone before moving on, though he may be back.

We definitely owe Baldy18 a lot of thanks for his great support for the DF team and all the work he does for TA in general.

the current protein is much slower than the last couple, so that is probably correct, just make sure they are using ~100MB of RAM to ensure the -rt switch is working
you can see some benchmarks of the current protien here

here is a P4 benchmark from that thread
Distributed Folding Windows dfGUI v1.8 Benchmark

Sample Size : 5175 structures over 4146 seconds.
Protein Size: 129AA

Structures Per Second: 1.25
Structures Per Minute: 74.9
Structures Per Hour : 4493
Structures Per Day : 107844

OS : Windows XP MHz: 1993
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
Client Switches: -df -rt

HiYa all

It is nice to see some chatter in here again. WTG TeAm, personal numbers seem to be up a bit, we have an old favorite back (even though he is gonna buzz by me like I'm standing still......... go Robor! )

I'm a little late tonight because those procs. (2000+) I've been waiting on arrived and really need installed. Got one machine done... with first lil' bump of FSB it's at 1700 and seems fine... hoping for 1740 or 50 out of it. Second machine gets it after supper...

It looks like we'll gain about 15K a day from each of them. Not much, but still fun to upgrade something while I wait for NV30s to become available.

*** Not to be a total tease, but word is that soon, very soon, we may have a few more folders. ***

/me is scheming again

Congratulations to all those MMs today!

I agree, you just gotta remember that there is an important social element to the DC community and it is only natural for movement in groups when a project ends....

The trick is to convince a few to try DF and hope some of their friends follow. Don't give up the ship... This is a great project running a very good client, we will see more folders.

TeAm SOB is starting to shape up quite well (we're now in the top 10 in all categories except fastest producers overall, and 4th place in fastest users in the last 24 hours). We got a couple "big guns" last night, so I'll probably finish up my current proth tests (1 full proth test = ~25-30 hours of crunching on this machine, I have two proth tests to finish out - ~half way through each) then I'll probably be back, though I may give the newly formed TeAm eOn a boost on my way back as it currently has only 2 members and are in ~8th place even with that.

Thanks for the info guys. If I get a chance I may swing by work and check the clients just to make sure. With 8 P4 1.8's using the extra RAM I expected more production. I wonder if I can get KDFold to work across a VPN connection? I know, I'm such a loser.

Oh, thanks for the welcome back everyone. Glad to be back helping the DF TeAm!
