Hello Folders,

Well, we're still not in number 9 yet. I'm guessing the moment FoBoT makes his next large dump we'll streak ahead. Remember, folks, tomorrow's the protein change so try to check up on your computers.

A message from Howard (DF HQ):

There are a lot of numbers for us to pore through in order to figure out exactly how we did (yes, it is not so straightforward as it sounds). We will post a complete 'report' as soon as we have gone through all the relevant numbers. While I can tell you we did not 'win', we appear to have done reasonably well considering our algorithm is still in its infancy compared to many of the other participants. Clearly brute force alone is not sufficient to predict protein structures but in combination with a 'smart' algorithm we believe it can far exceed what anyone else will be able to do without DC. As we continue to test new enhancements to our current basic algorithm and scoring functions, we expect to see great improvements in our ability to sample structures and pick out low energy ones. Anyhow, will provide more details once we've analyzed the results.

Milestone makers:

ATWE Terrahawk makes 9M and 10M folds!

ATWE LastKnight makes 10M folds!

Jagators makes 400K and 500K folds!

Congrats to the milestone makers!

FoBoT: I can see that you're getting ready for the change-over. 650K for the day still ain't bad, though. Looks like your RMS won't change before the switch.

Non-FoBoT:
Top Folder: Kris with 93.5M folds moves up a spot into 85th!
Best RMS: ATWE Insidious still in the lead as we move in the home stretch. If anybody's planning to make a move, now's the time. He's currently in 133rd overall!
Best Production: Unsurprisingly, it's ATWE Terrahawk again. 1.4M once more, this time puts him in 34th!

Producers Of the Day:

ATWE Terrahawk 1.4M
ATWE Insidious 860K
ATWE LastKnight 685K
FoBoT 650K
Kris 646K
ATWE ReaganCRW 518K
kmmatney 490K

Congrats to the POD's!
(Robor, you just missed out. another 22K and you'd be in).

TeAm Stuff:

Not much to say. We've got to get our production up, since most of our quarry is starting to slip from our grasp.

Daily Production: 9.5M today, which puts us back in 7th, which isn't too good at all. Only 75K from 6th though. No worries though, once the protein change goes through I'm sure we'll have 'em all eating our dust!!!

Oh, I just remembered! Please take a look at the TeAm Support Page and do just a bit more each day to help out the team! I think this is going for the Enterprise (the Seti Beowulf) but hey, they've already dropped quite a lot of $$$, time and effort on it, and I think a click-a-day isn't too much to ask.

Also, I've got some reasonable amount of work on dfQ (as I reported here). Hopefully, I'll have something out within 2 weeks.

Thanks m0ti! (for the stats and the update from DFHQ)

Congratulations to the Milestone Makers! Two 10M in one day... NICE
and jagators is making himself known quickly too WTG

I'm glad you put that support page linky in m0ti, I didn't know of it. So all they need is for me to follow the link? or do they need me to do a search to get credit?

ATWE:

bfour, bfour, bfour... another one? sorry man
You had the following periods that did ya in:
on the 8th @ 1500 = 60,850, @ 2100 = 76,754, and on the 9th @ 0300 = 71,251 for a total of 208,855, then you dumped 252,309 at 0900........... yer busted dude

Welp, I've managed to farm off most of my production away from home so things will be a lot less affected when I move *yay*.
I've still got a bunch of Durons with Windows 98 on them that I can't really use due to the fact that I can't hide DF from the users well enough (I am allowed to put it on as long as everyone else can get their work done) to disrupt things like restarting and shutting down.

Gotta figure that out.

Nice to see that your predictions ("1 day until number 9...") were wrong the last 3 days. )

Ciao, Bananeweizen.

BTW: Our production rate improvement is not because of your team. We just didn't like to be kicked out of the Top10 some days ago and moved some machines into this project.

What the hell am I going to day, am not going to work 7 days a week after pull 70 hours in 5 days, just for this race! I guess I will just have to put machines on other projects then or just keep getting these frigging tickets! I just don't have that many machines to work with! Just dumped the wifes machine, will dump my laptop with 40k to go out, plus I picked up a 2.4 with 1Gig of memory, so should give me a better RMS. REALLY REALLY getting pissed with the tickets, have over 300k on one machine to go out at work, but don't have time to try and "TIME" the dumps!:|

Seems like there should be. But alas..........

I wouldn't let the tickets upset you. TeAm DF still gets ALL of your folds. Just do the best you can and remember to have fun with it!

I promise not to giggle at the next one. (/me crosses fingers)

bfour,

Hopefully you'll only have to suffer until dfQ gets out. Maybe then it'll be much easier to time your dumps.

I've had several boxes acting up at work. I'm going to try and get them back online today. I hope I'm not going to get a speeding ticket for it. My daily average should be around 700K and I'm well below that lately.

Thanks m0ti & Insidious!

dfQ is an upload program for your corporate farmers and other sneaker-netters.

It offers the following functionality:

- upload results from computers (that don't have internet access) to a central location (that may have internet access)
- upload results from the central location to DF (if it has internet access) or create a single file containing all the results
- upload results contained in the single file to DF

Like I said, I'm trying to get a version out for 2 weeks time.
