Hi there, Folders,
Well I hope that everyone's enjoying the new client. If you're error.log file is getting really big, get the latest client which doesn't report the error that bloats the file. I think that Howard set it up as the latest version, though, so it should auto-update. In any case, the new client is a little more than 2x as fast in Windows, though I haven't done any really extensive benchmarking. Additionally, the results that we're getting in seem to be of a much higher quality than the previous algorithm. As howard said, most of the structures are probably worse, but it looks like the Extreme Value is behaving better (the distribution of the BEST folds as opposed to the distribution of ALL the folds). As a comparison, after doing some 11 billion folds on this protein with the old algorithm, the best RMS was at 7.99. After just 375M the best RMS is already at 8.18! It looks like they're doing a lot of things right at DF. I rather expect that they'll have another go at the CASP 5 proteins with the new algorithm at some point in the future (my guess is about 2-3 months) to see how that'd stack up against the old algorithm.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, on to the white elephant:

Hmm, Terrahawk is starting to pull away. Somebody better get on him, or by the time this thing ends, it'll be a cake walk.
Milestone makers:
ATWE Terrhawk blows by 12.5M folds!
ATWE Mloot does the 9M thang!
ATWE bob970 makes 5M folds!
Jagators makes it to a mil!
Congrats to the milestone makers!
FoBoT: Taking your time shifting in to the new client, I see. 434K for the day. Hope to see your fold crunching again soon!
non-FoBoT:
Top Folder: Kris with 95.5M folds (halfway on the milestone, too) moves up a notch to 85th!
Best RMS: ATWE ReaganCRW with an 8.68. Was in the top 10 previously today (as high as 6th!). Currently sitting in 11th. Nicely folded!
Best Production: No surprises, ATWE Terrahawk once more. 2.2M for the day is good for 31st. Nice!
Producers Of the Day:
ATWE Terrahawk 2.2M
ATWE Robor 1.6M
ATWE Insidious 1.6M
ATWE LastKnight 1.6M
Kris 1.4M
ATWE ReaganCRW 1.1M
kmmatney 940K
Congrats to the PODs!
TeAm Stuff:
Still in 6th, though Team Ninja is just 2M behind us, so we have to keep on moving, moving, moving!
Daily Production: 17.3M for the day which is good for 6th. It's good to see that we can hold our own even without FoBoT. That way, we shouldn't have any problems with our standings till we get his large dumps. 2M lead on 7th and 3M behind 5th. Of course, we do have to keep on improving our numbers. Rechenkraft outpaced us by 5M today and they're just 23M back...
Oh, I missed it yesterday, but we also have made 1.5 Billion folds! Yay TeAm!
Be seein' ya all tomorrow!
p.s.
dfQ design came together today. Server's design seemed quite a bit more complicated than the client's till I got the abstractions and modularizations done properly. Now it'll be a piece of cake! (Famous last words...)
