Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I want to buy a new system capable of sli. I heard that msi 's fsb is lower than dfi's or asus's models, is that true? I would like to buy msi... but i now i am thinking of it .

Of course i am talking about Asus A8N SLI, DFI nF4 SLI-DR and MSI K8N NEO Platinum.

Thanks

DFI for overclocking. Generally I'd recommend ASUS, but search around, lots of horror stories, but some people have gotten the board to work stable MSI for feature-set and overclocking.... they're all good overclockers but the DFI is the best

Well first thing is if your oc'ing..If you are definately the DFI becuz of voltage it supplies. If your running stock i would go either msi or asus even though they are good oc'ing board as well.

I have had the Asus for about 6 months now and had no problems. It's stable and overclocks decently. If you want extreme overclocking then DFI is the way to go. The Asus has been out the longest and has had many (not all) of the kinks worked out with several bios updates. All three are great Motherboards, but if i had to choose I would go with the Asus.

I can't offer more than my own limited personal experience, but the three a7n8x-e socket a mobos i put in systems are still going strong, one of which has been seriously overclocking for about two years now.
The A8V-deluxe I bought in December died on me in early April for no apparent reason (it had not been oc'd). It took Asus 26 days to get the board back to me from the day they received it. Not impressive at all.

I don't think you could go wrong with all of those boards it depends on what you want to do. My Asus OCs pretty well, I haven't done the SLI mod on my DFI Ultra 4 system yet, I have a SLI bridge that came from New Zeland and I just got my Thermalright XP90, I have a A64 939 4000 shedgehammer in that system with a ATI 800PRO.

The MSI K8N Neo Platinum isn't even in the same league.. That's an S754 board.

If you're talking about the MSI K8N Neo4 SLI, then we're good to you.
~Anyhow, I'd suggest the MSI or DFI.

Not that happy with Asus anymore either. Some of the drivers provided by Asus for the K8N-E were questionable to say at least, especially Linux ones.

i am very happy with my asus, no problems thus far. i would buy dfi next time for overclocking reasons now that i am more knowledgable with OC'ing, otherwise i would get another asus. as others have stated, go asus if you want reliability and stability with decent OC's, go dfi if you want to do some extreme overclocking, msi i have no experience with and did not really consider when i chose, but i have heard good things as well.

Do you guys think the DFI board is a mistake for a first time AMD'er and OC'er?

I would say if you are good with computers, know how to READ some threads over at dfi-street.com, you'll be fine. Get GOOD memory, I suggest OCZ Value VX if you are on a budget. Three major prblms are
1)VERY picky on ram, get TCCD or Winbond based stuff, better chance with tccd to be processor compaitable (my one stick of winbond doesn't seem to like my proc/board, more than likely its the processor, haven't tried the new beta bios's with it yet (5/10 supposed to be about the best)
2)Needs a GOOD psu, as do the other boards
3)Bios corruption seems to follow DFI like a plague. Haven't had it happen to me, their is a specific way to flash, if you get the board read and you'll find out. Consider a bios saviour.

Still, prbly the best board out of the three, all the latest AMD speed records are set on the DFI nForce4 board family (does a 530 htt bus speed sound good to you? how about a 4 ghz fx-55?).

i have the same shortlist in front of me right now as well.

I am having a tough time deciding, but I am leaning toward the ASUS just because I have had good experience with them in the past.

I will probably overclock a bit, but I am more concerned with finding a stable and reliable board.
