I decided to email DFI today in regards to see where exactly do they stand on releasing their board.

Dear Sirs,

Sorry to inform you that DFI will release a socket 939 with the chipset of nF4 CK804 and the available schedule should be in Nov. As to 250Gb, so far, we don't have plan on it.

Sorry, our nF4 only support PCIe. As to AGP, we will have an nF3 Ultra D by end of this year which will support AGP.

I just sent an email to her regarding the N Force 4 board. Alot of people are really wondering about Sound Storm possibly being included in these boards. Alot of rumors out there. Will post if I get a reply. Since she is talking about the board I guess it does not hurt to ask.

This has been repeatedly dismissed as a rumor/misinformation by Angry_Games, an official DFI rep over at www.dfi-street.com/forum.

Vivian, our head of marketing called and gave us the official scoop right from Taiwan home office. 939's are coming, but we have no set date on them yet. We waiting as long as we did with the 754's to make sure we had the best board and...we do We plan to do the same thing with the 939's.

I dont even think the NF4 chipset gets released for another month or two anyway. We plan on having an NF3 939 AGP and an NF4 939 PCI-E. We have no dates for either board at this time. (9-26-2004)

939 NF3 will be what you expect, AGP etc

939 NF4 will be SLI PCI-E

I understand their will be a AGP S939 board being released by Jan.01/05,

But it was first set for October 31st,

Now since they are pushing it back to the end of the year, i guess i'll get the Abit 3rd eye ,

pointless in waiting till 05 for an old chipset.. We want something now.. we dont want nforce3 next year

whats the point when they will release nforce4? market strategy ??

anyway i was considering buying a board from them but i guess not.

It says right there that they will have a 939 board out by the end of the year that will support AGP. Maybe the confusion is that the 939 boards use the NF3 Ultra and not the NF3 250Gb (which is why they said they would not have a 939 board with the NF3 250Gb in the first response).

As long as you can wait til the end of the year, you should be OK.

The vanilla nForce4 is just the nForce3 Ultra with PCI-E support, not an old chipset in anyway.

There really isn't any difference between NF3 and NF4 other than PCI-E and adding a few USB and SATA ports. If you don't want PCI-E I don't see why you wouldn't want a NF3 board, it isn't old technology.

I'm pretty sure that I saw that ABIT will have a NF3 250 board out sometime in October if that helps.

Oh and where did you pull that crap from? Last time i checked it was confirmed we were getting soundstorm and a mess of other features.
