DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra question about dual channel ram

How do i turn this on? i cant find an option in bios..

I have 2 sticks of buffalo PC3200 512mb

slots 1&3, 2&3, 1,2&3*conditional*=DC DDR mode, just put a stick in one of the 2 slots that are together and one in the slot set off by itself.

yup as long as you have one stick in 3 and one in either 1 or 2 your bios will say Dual Channel Mode Activated when you boot. Surprisingly with my DFI NF2 I noticed a huge gain from going single ---> dual, but then again I am using 2100 so that probably has something to do with it.

please make sure you have the latest BIOS, 7-18-2003

this BIOS will show DualChannel enabled at the boot screen, none of the other BIOS's show this.

You can check with a utility like CPU-Z also, as it will show your RAM running in DC mode.

I have this board, what would happen if I stuck 3 identical sticks of OCZ ram in all 3 slots? Is dual channel mode still enabled? What kind of performance hit am I going to take by doing this?

dual channel will not be enabled on it with 3 sticks. There's been much discussion about the difference in performance from NF2's in DC or SC, and most say there's about a 5% difference. The Intel boards are much better with DC. 3 sticks of RAM will still give you a lot of great performance. Dont worry about the DC hype on AMD Athlon boards too much

The biggest improvement with DC comes if you use a nForce board that has an IGP(onboard video chip).Since most of us use an AGP video card that has it`s own ram rather then the IGP that shares main board ram,it`s not a factor.
