:disgust:

Help,

Just got me one of these babies, fitted it all up:

2x 6800GT Sli
1x 3500+ Winchester
1x Raptor 74GB SATA
2x 512MB GSkill TCCD RAM LC
1x Audigy 2 ZS Sound

Is this unit Winchester compatable?

Why wont it post?

Someone please help - I just switched from A8N-Sli which worked fine but I wanted the best overclocking MOBO - Now I am paralysed with fear that winchester CPU's are not yet supported.

Any help you guys can provide would be appreciated.

Cheers

they are supported.. i am thinking maybe your PSU doesn't have enuf juice? or could be ram problems.

Hi thanks for the quick response. I thought about the RAM but I am using an OCZ Powerstream 520w which ran my Winnie at 3ghz and 6800GT's at 410/1150 on the Asus.

RAM is supported but tried some OCZ PC4400 Gold EL just to be safe same problem.

Just going throught the clear CMOS routine.

Are you meant to run these in single mode, before changing the jumpers (extremely awkward) to Sli?

Will Post more as I progress, please keep the suggestions flowing.

You probably tried this already but I'm going to throw it in there anyway.
Have you tried installing the memory in slot 2 and 4? Other people including myself have problem with slot 1 and 3.
To be safe, use 1 stick of memory in slot 2 and take out one of your 6800GT.
Just use the bare essentials (cpu, 1 stick memory, 1 video card) to see if it'll post.

Thanks for the suggestiosn guys.

Tried fitting unit with FX55, my mate has exactly the same set-up as me but with FX55 so I borrowed his.

Tried with bare essentials only and same again. Swapped graphics cards, swapped RAM (corsair, OCZ and GSkill), Swapped dimm slots, Sli on/off.
Same problem.

I am now thinking that perhaps we have 2 faulty DFI boards as he has the same issues I have.

The best I can get to happen is that diagnositc lights show that the motherboard detects everything (CPU, RAM etc..) but the light that stays on suggests that it is a VGA problem - which mean the graphics ports are shot. Just playing around with what I have now all power connectors etc...

Looks like a pair of dodgy boards but please keep your suggestions flowing.

Did you plug the 4 pin molex into the mobo ?

How are your video cards powered ? I had to use 2 seperate molex connections on my single 6800GT before I got a video signal when using 4 hd's.

Regards,
Jose

I use 2x molex individually connected to each card.

I thought the same thing but that theory went out the window when I tested using just one card in single VGA mode.

Any other suggestions? I really need help on this so the more information we can ad to the list the better chance I have of solving the issue.

Could it be that DFI boards are not geared up for sub zero temps?

Thanks for the tip, tried overriding using the on board power switch but that did the same thing.

recognised the VGA card on start up moved to the DFI screen (that hides the post info) and locks up.

Even if I do that and reset, same thing happens.

Weird I know.

If I can't sort it out tomorrow I'll have to take both boards back to the shop on Monday to test them out.

Please keep the suggestions flowing, I haven't givin up yet.

Cheers

when the DFI logo apears press delete. that should open BIOs and then you can load optimised defaults

Hi,

Pressed delete, nothing, pressed TAB to show the sceen behind the DFI, nothing.

It's almost like it wants to post but freezes somewhere between detecting the CPU and the RAM.

I would say it's the CPU, but I have now tried 2x A64 winchesters and an FX55.

Looking on the DFI Website, there is a BETA BIOS which fixes some problems relating to CL2 RAM and IRDA.

I tried using corsair and OCZ PC4400 where the SPD is 2.5-4-4-8 instead of the Gskill which is 2-2-2-5 RAM, so it should set to the loose timings if the CMOS is cleared.

Keep the idea coming - I'll try anything.

I am currently performing a Pagan ritual to see if that helps
