[*]Ultra-d http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152

So, ordering my new system today. Had it as 128 shipped at checkout, went to lunch, came back and there was a 15$ instant savings that brought it down to $113 shipped. Cheaper than monarch ($127 shipped, 5 day)

Hope this helps some of ya'lls with that build that's been a click away from happening for the past month

 newegg

Just a word of advice to people who don't know, this board can be quite a bit of work if you have certain types of RAM. I have a couple of 1GB sticks of Corsair VS UCCC that were able to run at 278Mhz 1:1 on my previous motherboard. On this board, I spent literally hours tweaking bios memory settings to get it to run on this board. Once I got it all going, it was awesome, and I got 3.05GHz out of my Opty 146, where I was getting 2.8 on the previous board, an ASRock 939Dual-SATA2, but unless you have the exact type of RAM this board likes, be prepared to be in for a fight for a bit before you get everything stable. The DFI fanboys will tell you it's because the board wasn't meant for cheap components, which may be true for all I know. It's a poor way to run a business, and if DFI wants to be pegged as some sort of elitist motherboard maker, that's fine with me, but I doubt it's the case. Regardless of the reason though, you'll definitely want to search your memory type on DFI Street and see if there are any known issues with it. If you're lucky, someone on there might post a similar configuration and what they used for settings. If you're in the majority, you'll get a fanboy who demeans you for being a newbs with cheap components. Good luck .

Yes, this board supports up to 4V to the RAM without any modifications. There is a jumper setting on your motherboard that you switch. Default position only allows 3.2V and lower. Other position relinquishes control of the full range of voltage options.

Also, I haven't had much trouble with RAM with this board. I've thrown Gskill value, TEAM Cronus, Mushkin UTT, and Geil in here without any problems. I've heard it was picky, but I think this is primarily the case with Corsair based memory. Don't know why. I never use Corsair, so that might be why I haven't stumbled across this pickiness, but it may be something to keep in mind.

Other than that, I love this board. Great layout, amazing overclocking potential. I regularly get Opty 144 overclocks of 2.8 on this guy, and 2.8-3.0 with 146 and 148 chips. Extremely stable in handling overclocks, and TONS of memory adjustment options. $112 is a steal, especially when you may be able to mod the NF4 chipset into SLI with this board. It comes with two physical X16 PCI-express slots. I did it to mine just for kicks

Can you share some details on the mod to allow SLI on this board?

Are there specific 146/148 steppings to look for? The recent drop in price of the 146 is tempting.

I love this board but it hated by OCZ Platinum memory. Switched to Patriot Red and it works good. Havn't overclocked it yet. Been too busy.

I would like to get one. But, I see in the picture that it seems to have small fan may be for the chipset! That small fan must be noisy. Is it possible to replace it with a passive cooler?

Also, I have 2X1GB Mushkin PC3200. Will it be happy with those?

The board can run single channel or dual channel.

The fan can be noisy at full juice, but the BIOS lets you turn it down. If you use the "normal" top PCI-E slot for video, the video card will go right over the chipset. Any passive cooler that is capable of keeping the chipset cool enough will be blocked by the video card. You have to do either a custom job like Zebo did for his son (hacked up an Arctic Cooling tower heatpipe cooler for P4 and made a custom mount) or you can mod your board into SLI, then set it up for SLI but run only one video card in the bottom PCI-E 16X slot (in 8X mode) and thus freeing up the chipset area for the taller Zalman NB47J heatsink.

well, i just got an ultra-d board from tigerdirect (yes it was overpriced and i hate tigerdirect, but i got a 100 dollar gift certificate so it only cost me 42 dollars). Paired this up with an opteron 144 from monarch (CACJE)...so far I'm at ~2.45 ghz on 1.35v....27x fsb w/ 166 divider and get this....

my old 2x256 sticks of corsair xms 3200 twinx v1.2 ram (CH-6 chips, I believe) are doing 22x mhz at 2-3-3-7 and 1T stable with stock 2.7 voltage. Yes, that's right...cas 2. It's weird because I have everything for RAM set to auto detect and when it was clocked at default 200mhz the cas was detected at 2.5. I just installed the board and cpu this morning so I'm going to be doing some further testing to see just how far this combo can go.

The stock fan is actually silent at bootup, and you can set the fan to only come to full speed at a certain temp. However, when it does reach full speed, its annoying. I replaced it with a cheap copper vanteq vga cooler from newegg as well that was a perfect fit and shaved several degrees off and is totally silent.

My board revision is AD0 which is the latest...hopefully it continues to be solid...haven't had one hiccup yet. I believe most of the problems with the board occured with earlier revisions, take a look at the dfi forum and see for yourself.

Oh btw, they all can still be modded to sli by just scraping off some epoxy on the chipset and connecting a trace. Did mine this afternoon and now I have a full blown sli board. Sweet deal.
