Is the board overclocked?

Check to make sure that your VTT and vDDR voltage are within .5 volts of each other.

The last DFI x58 board I had would show missing RAM once in awhile...it was usually due to inappropriate voltage settings.

what should the vtt and vddr be set at? as everything in this bios outside of ddr voltage is on auto . and i havent bothered to overclock due to the issues i am having

i have updated the bios which is now showing memory correctly at times , one moment it sees 2048mb and then change out to another set of corsair it suddenly then sees 4088mb and so forth . memtest wont make one pass without rebooting

i am lost

Find an option called "memory hole remap" in the BIOS and enable it. This places all the non-main memory devices like GPU RAM away from the initial 4GB address space so the mobo can address all your main memory.

I have 4GB DDR1 in an old S939 system and without it the POST only recognizes 3.5GB.

memory remap is enabled still there is a problem with memory being stable . even memtest wont complete one pass without a reboot and i tried several sets of corsair memory here so must be a voltage setting or something else

You had some replies to your post in the DFI thread at Hardforums (yes, I lurk in their SFF section). Have you installed Windows yet? Alkoran said that he had the same BIOS reporting issue, but that Windows saw the whole amount.

sounds like you need to contact DFI for an RMA.... might be cold solder joints on the memory sockets

I'm currently running BIOS version 080015 dated 12/31/2009 in my rig...
Windows7 64bit

I'm running g. skill F3-12800CL7-2GBECO @ddr3-1500 @1.4VDC... it's seeing all four gigs...

i750@3.150Ghz @48C under full load with CorsairH50

i guess memtest doesnt do but a few tests and then stops says everything passed for inside memory slot where the outside one wont . thats useing same memory for testing

another party suggested it may be the cpu as to the problem but i have no way of finding out which one it is since i dont have another cpu or board to test with

considering that the memory controller is now on the cpu.. .it could be the cpu... but then it could be the memory. since the memory is directly connected to the cpu.. it could be one of three things... the cpu, the motherboard, or the memory... memtest runs every test it needs too to determine if you have a bad memory path.. it test all address lines and test all data lines... it cycles all the lines with the necessary patterns and compares them to a good pattern to determine if it's good or not... if at least one pattern fails, then you have probable cause to consider that you have faulty memory... just watch out for false positives... with that said.. watch out for false negatives too.

RMA it back to newegg for a new board.... if you still have the same problem, then RMA the cpu... it's one of those two since the the same memory stick passes in one slot but not the other.

I haven't had any problems with the board once windows 7 is loaded and all updates are done... for some reason, the dvd drive always gives me problems on new install with this board where after I load windows 7, the dvd drive becomes unresponsive until i can load the ethernet drivers (from a usb drive) and get the windows updates... then everything works fine.

I haven't powered on my opteron 165 in a year... I've already scavenged the power supply out of it to replace a bad coolermaster (never again... 3 bad in a months time in three different systems.)... and the video card (8800gt) i pulled out a year ago to do gpu computing in another system.
