All good things come to those who wait.

Dam, I just got the AW9D Max :brokenheart:

Well, if the DFI is really a winner, I guess I will have to sell both the DQ6 and the DS4, I don't need 4 mobos for 2 rigs

I'm curious if saying when DFI plans to launch it is part of NDA? Like which month? Or is that part of the NDA also? I'll guess it is since Gary cant say. Or maybe he just doesnt know that particular info? I'm planning on another build soonish (October) and curious wether to consider waiting or not.

Sorry, until we can offer the preview I cannot say a word about performance. :frown:

I guess another big question is. Will it unofficially support Intel new Quad Core CPU's ?

Also, Another interesting thing is the lack of extra 4pin / 8pin power motherboard power connector on the RD600 board. Do any other people see it?

I might be wrong but do you need it if it has a 24 pin power connector?

looking forward to the *** Official DFI RD600 Thread ***

Looking more closely, I can see the extra 8 Pin connector. Its behind the heatsink for the digital PWM module heatsink near the corner of the board. (the long and narrow heatsink near the I/O back plate. IMO, not the best place but its not that bad. I wonder will any other vendors release RD600 based boards? Maybe a ROG board from ASUS.

Another points on the layout.
i.) The chip seems pretty close to the edge of the motherboard. This could be an issue with high end air-coolers such as the Ultra120. The heatsink may overhang over the top end of motherboard. Not good if you got cases like lian-li v1000/1200 or v2000.

Its been posted on xtremesystems.org that this board has been doing 530fsb
not to forget that the RAM works totaly undependent from the FSB

Just one question.if they are similarly priced, which would u get?(just curious)

From looking at it the photos, I have some concerns about the boards compatability with top end air-coolers. Coolers like the Scythe Infinity , Thermal Right Ultra 120 will when mounted on the cpu socket will overhang the top of the board by a significant amount.

The Thermal right Ultra 120 is 135MM wide. i.e. 67.5mm each side of the centerline of the socket.
The Scythe Infinity is at least 120mm wide. i.e. 60mm on each side of the centerline
The Scythe Ninja is 120mm wide with fan. ie. 60mm each side of the centerline of the socket..
For reference the intel 775 mounting is 95mm wide. (the dimension of that X shaped area) i.e. 47.5mm each side of the center line.

In other words, a 120mm heatsink will over hand 12.5mm to 20mm over the edge the top edge of the motherboard. About the only cases which have that room are full towers such as:
Antec P-180
Silverstone TJ-7
CM Stacker Series and the full tower thermal takes.
Forget any lian-li case.

I will see if we can post a couple of pictures with the Scythe Infinity and Tuniq 120 on the board tonight.

I cannot even answer that request. DFI is working 24/7 on this board and until they are comfortable with the board reaching their internal performance targets we will not be able to provide results. They were kind enough to give us permisson to post a picture of the board.

That would be nice for all people planning for this board as i have some concerns about case compatability from looking at the photos.

BTW, on the topic of RD600, know anything about moves from its competitors? maybe a ROG board from ASUS, ECS , abit??

As for my concerns about compatability. now illustrated below.
1.) The CPU area is very close to the top edge of the boards. (Photo1)
2.) That area in intel's specs is 95mm x 95mm(Photo2)
3.) There will be significant overhangs over the top of the board.(Photo3)

LOL...let's not state stuff like that w/o proof.

It's been stated that Oskar Wu has his IM message stating RD600 @ 530.

That's it.

I think i'd prefer to see some actual production results from non-bios designers before i get quite as excited

Don't get me wrong though, i am very interested in this
I just don't like unverified info.

It could be funny if the best mobo for C2D (if it was) was manufactured by DFI only.

Remember the days of ¿Where can I get an opty165?

Looks good. I have no plans (or time) to upgrade until the end of the year, but this is increasingly looking like it's going to be my next board, especially given the great experience I've had with DFI's NF4 boards.

The socket is indeed rather close to the edge of the board, but it shouldn't cause any problems for me. The fairly basic passive cooling seems to indicate that the RD600 doesn't get nearly as hot as the 965 and 975 (especially as DFI is known for having fans on almost all their boards, for better or worse). It's also good to see three usable PCI slots on the board, although the 8-pin EPS connector could have been better placed.

I absolutely cannot say, DFI allowed us to post a picture with an interesting caption and that is it.

Wow, that's what I call tightlipped. DFI is probably still pretty far from completing this board. Otherwise, there would have been heeps upon heeps of preproduction benchmarks and such.

To be honest I'd rather not see anything, not even a picture until there's a review with benchmarks and overclocking tests. That's just me
