I just noticed that they have appeared on OcUK for pre-order with ETA 17 Jan. They're currently priced at £175 plus VAT. (which is both more expensive and cheaper than their prices for NF680 boards, depending on which manufacturer you look for).

IMO it?s going to be a killer board with a couple of R600 in crossfire and physics to top it off.

and still no availability... not even 1.... absolute vaporware.

I mean if NDA is up the 15th then they should be on sale. I don't usually mind paper launches but a paper launch for this was not a good idea bleh!

I agree 100%..and if they were around the reported 100 boards was such BS

the fact is newegg hasn't even listed them. I'm still going to try to get it but if I don't I'm going to be angry about all the BS they've fed us. etc.. only a small sample production of 100 for the U.S. at christmas. I don't care if they didn't "finish" the BIOS just give me a working board. I want my computer up atleast.

Not to mention that when I heard the official NDA date of the 15th I was like finally. If they had said mid-january I wouldn't have waited. This was in November... ugh wtf.

We are still trying to get a release date. We know the production boards have shipped, just do not have an update as to retail release. Personally, I think the last BETA BIOS should be flashed and let the boards go, it will need a little more fine tuning but the USB/RAID issue is fixed and you can use the Physics slot as a regular PCIe x1 slot now.

I posted this in another thread but it sums up my feelings at this time.

We are still tweaking this board for better memory throughput, but the RD600 is for the most part memory bandwidth starved when compared to the 975X. Some games and 3D apps score great, some do not when benchmarking. We are discussing the memory controller with AMD currently to see if there are any tweaks left in it. I doubt it as I really believe Oskar maxed the board out. The board has one huge feature, flexibility, but I doubt the board will ever be used for setting benchmark records. However, due to the stability, power consumption, CrossFire performance, and flexibility, it should make for a good mainstream board especially if the price comes down a little.

It will have to be priced aggressively if it only amounts to a "good mainstream board" and not a "great enthusiast board"....

Maybe my words were a little underwhelming, it is a very good enthusiast board from the standpoint of being able to overclock the 4MB chips better (at stock multipliers) than the other solutions at this point and the async memory capability puts it in its own class but the overall performance of the board is not going to set any records. It does very well in certain applications and average in others. In essence, the hunt for the perfect Core 2 Duo board (clearly better performance, high FSB overclocking, stability, features, etc.) continues at this time. All of the current chipsets have their strengths and weaknesses with none of them just clearly being better than the others.

Gary, any ETA on your in-depth review? I need something to read since the board won't be for sale for awhile.

Maybe so..but there is less vdroop so this will likely be a better board from a stablity standpoint..I could careless about benches if my overclock is stable and my machine performs well

I realize to many the small % increased performance is important

Hey Gary, been following here and at XS and I was wondering one thing (that you might address in the review anyway). Does setting the async memory setting to say just below 1:1 ratio by 20 or 30 Mhz result in a big performance drop or just comparable to the percentage that you reduced the memory below the 1:1 ratio?

and today being the 22nd... availability=0. well christmas is now down the drain.
I can't really express how dissappointed I am at all the delays. I kinda just want ti to fail miserably for all the trouble it's caused me but still want it. if Jan 17 is really the retail then tell me! I won't be getting it then and save me the trouble.

It will be up the first week in January. We should receive the final release BIOS next week and hopefully the boards start shipping from distribution afterwards. We decided to wait on the final production BIOS as you never know what will change at this point. However, USB keyboard and setting RAID up is corrected now. Also, Oskar managed to squeeze a little more out of the board this past week.

It makes the waiting a bit more tolerable knowing that it?s being positively squeezed for more zip.

Zomgz wtf.

/release board plz, kthx?

I take it DailyTech was pulling my leg when they said the 15th. Looks like it won't even be a Decemer launch in the first place... What happened to all those "Sometime in December but definately before Christmas!" promises from late November? This board has turned into one rediculous waiting game.

Gary, are there plans to do a board comparison or updated buyers guide for top end boards with the various chip sets?

I'm finding it difficult to make a decision based on all the overwhelming postings here and on XS... Ideally, it would be nice to see something that sumarizes the various strengths/weaknesses of the front-running enthusiast boards and also looks at overclocking for the average E6600 owner with good PC2-6400 memory and how to get the most out of this setup for gaming and productivity.

This waiting game is taking too long. I gave up last night and just went ahead and bought the evga 680i board. I just hope all the problems about this board has been solved. I'll cry if the board goes on sale this week.:brokenheart:

What, you think that this has something to do with the Lanparty 680i board?
