They REQUIRE a 480 PSU? That's kinda bogus?

I just got my friend a setup, with Antec Sonata, 380 PSU. The screen is all glitchy and staticy when the computer starts, and the Diagnostic LED 1 is lit up.

Is it true that I need a 480watt PSU?

i think you can sneak by with less, maybe even 350w, but i think the DFI SLI's require the new ATX pin standard, so you are usually gonna end up buying a new PSU anyways.
also, if you ever use it for what it is meant for, you would want to have a solid 480w there for stability.

err, ok so what i am saying, is YES, buy a powerful PSU and a good brand. otherwise you will basically get screwed over later and not know what is breaking/messing up and why.

the 24 pinand 24amp on the 12v is more important but yes, 480 is what they want.

as to the glitchy display, well thats what that 1 led is saying-you have an issue with you vga card.

i'm guessing thats not a native 24 pin supply? also you have any external power connectors into the card you may need and the four power connectors into the mobo?

you need the 24 pin, the 4 pin atx, the 4 pin molex (by the chipst fan) and the floppy connector (between the pci-e and the cpu)
