I've heard the Ultra-D has been having trouble w/ the OCZ (and other TCCD's) ... has the problem been fixed yet? Anyone know of the latest and greatest on this issue?

cheers.

It works, but I can only run 3-4-4-8 @ 250HT (x4) 2.8-3v

I have to drop the mem divider to 166 @ 260HT (x4) and 2.5-3-3-6

I am going to just pick up some Corsair Valueram and save some $$

TJmoney,

Besides the Max Async Latency setting, is there anything else one might need to set to get expected behaviour out of tccd's? For example, any specific bios rev? Any other settings?

The HUGE thread over at xtremesystems.org is too complicated for me to understand. I'm about to buy components for a rig and would just like somebody to confirm that tccd's can indeed be oc'd to decent levels w/ this board (CL2@200, CL2.5@250)

cheers.

Im SOOOO sick of hereing people having problems with this awesome memory. I have both and from the very begining i have had 0 problems. I can run my memory at 400 with 2-2-2-5 timmings, but i keep it at 550 1T with 2.5-3-3-7 as my settings. I give it 2.8 for that and at stock, it needs at least 2.65. Whats so hard about that???!!!

Tripp17,

Which bios rev are you using? Also, did u change any other settings in the bios beside vdimm to get yoru oc? The egg no longer has the OCZ Plat rev 2 so I'm thinking of getting the Corsair TwinX 3200XL PT (also tccd) in its place ... and w/ all the talk about tccd's not working, I'm getting mighty nervous!

I saw somewhere else people having problems and now again in here, hence the nasty post. I love this ram, at 300 1T i ran memtest for 3 hours with no errors. I mean can it get better than that? I leave it ay 550 1T at 2.5-3-3-7 all day long. I play games, whatever, its like a rock. And like i said, at stock it runs at 2.0-2-2-5 just fine, no problems. I pit my memory in slots 2 and 4 on my DFI board like they say to. I think people are putting in the memory and not going to 2.65 to start. I think default on the DFI is 2.5 and it clearly states that OCZ Platinum Rev.2 at stock NEEDS 2.65 minimum. Thats all i can think of, Anandtech had no problems, and either do i. If you want more specifics on bios, let me know.....my sig has it all. The bios is the bios that came with the board, i havent changed a thing!

This board have any problems with Corsair 2x512 XMS, the one on Outpost for $160. I guess I will find out tomorrow or friday and post my results on this board, hopefully everything will be fine at 2-3-3-6 timings, even 2-3-3-7 is fine.

Also using the bios that shipped w/ the DFI mobo, I didn't flash it to a newer version.

Yea that memory uses Samsung TCCD chips.

BIOS revisions 209 and 217 are suppost to address the TCCD issues on the DFI Ultra-D.

It's sold out there too. Actually, I'm having trouble finding OCZ Platinum Rev 2 anywhere in stock right now at a good price.

People are still reporting several problems w/ tccd and the DFI Ultra-D. Check this thread and also this thread. The problem is definitely not limited those lacking enough vdimm.

The current speculation appears to be that the problem is cpu sensitive. Potentially only the tccd/winnie combo is problematic. The bios revisions are coming fast and furious, so lets hope for the best.

At this point, I'm nervous enough to push my build back by a week. Over the next week, I'll watch developments on the DFI front while keeping an eye on the new Abit FataL1ty user reviews that are beginning to ramp up.

cheers.

All i know is this.......i bought the Ultra-D after i was fed up with my A8N-SLI, i have OCZ Platinum Rev.2 and it works great! Im at 550ddr 1T at 2.5-3-3-7. On my A8N-SLI, i was at 490 1T at 2.5-3-3-10. Ive never flashed any bios, everything worked great right out the gate......no problems here with TCCD and Ultra-D. Actually, i ran my memory at ddr 620 1T !!!!!! I ran a mem test and then backed it down to ddr550. Not bad for "troublesome" memory.......

If your using the PDP PC3200 w/ XBL Technology then it uses Samsung TCCD chips as well so if you dont have problems with the PDP then you wont with the OCZ ither.

Anandtech used the OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev2 in their review of the Ultra-D and SLI-DR and it performed extremely well.
