Best mobo for the combo. Has everything you ever need for a 939 socket except SLI. eg. SATA2, NF4, etc. Extremely stable running my 3500+ @ 2.52ghz (o/c) and WIn x64 Pro Ed.

i used 2 avoid ecs at all costs, have recently bought my first ecs combo from Fry's as their board quality are much better now.

This is a hell of deal considering it's the typical cost of the X2 alone, with an SLI mobo thrown in. Kind of like the Evga 7800GT + free SLI mobo combo for $350 @ Newegg back when they first came out.

The only motherboards I've ever paid retail for have been ECS boards. They aren't top of the line, they're excellent values. With ECS you generally get more than what you pay for.

That being said, how can you complain, knowing when you bought that "combo" deal at Fry's that you were basically getting the mobo for free, or nearly so. In addition, you already know that if you can O/C it any, that's just a plus, a freebee, an extra added 'lil bonus to sweeten the deal you cheap azz.(Talkin' to myself here). They usually do what thay are supposed to & maybe a little more. Not exactly the the O/C board of choice. Not one you'll likely spend upwards of $200 or so on, not one that you will likely be bragging about to all your hardware GEEk friends. The wife definitely doesn't even want to know. So yes, ECS is O.K. For what is does. And the price? ....That's why it's it the Hot Deal Forum, isn't it?

Retailers like Fry's and NewEgg aren't stupid to carry products that are prone to defect and failure. Both stores carry ECS products, especially Fry's.
If best value is what you're after. Then ECS should be on your high list.

I hit the deal, then snagged an Asus board from someone at a deal that I couldn't pass up. If the Asus board works fine, the ECS one will hit the FS forum. Although I've heard good things lately, I still have bad memories of thier 486 and Pentium boards.

I got their X2-3800/ECS BF deal for $270 or $280. Price should go down, not up.
ECS m/b's are crap - yet because of Fry's I buy about 1 every other year because they are essentially free with the processor. Support is pitiful.
First one - the manual was for the wrong version, some jumpers had been moved and the printing on the M/B was totally unreadable. RMA.
Second one - original drivers bombed all the time, had to get new drivers.
Last one (with the 3800+) had to get new Bios to support the 3800, SATA RAID wasn't working.
Asus, MSI, DFI - GOOD boards, support (for me at least), good manuals, but you get what you pay for.
/edit - for example - their manual says "Your motherboard features two SATA connectors supporting a total of two drives"
and there are actually four connectors, labeled SATA1~SATA4.

I've had a couple of ECS boards over the years, including one right now running my kid's comp. They're decent - but some of the comments are accurate. The documentation tends to be pretty bad. But I haven't had one fail yet.

My current ASUS board had excellent documentation. When the sales rep initially made a comment to me about this, I scoffed in my mind, but I have come to appreciate the very nice manual that came with the ASUS. Made setup a snap.

The comment of Fry's not having defective products is not so accurate. I've bought a boatload of comp and electronics from them, some are good, some not so much. But they do have a pretty good return policy, and I live close. In fact, I'm heading there later today to return a video card that had obviously been open and had install CD missing.

This sounds like a good deal to me. I got my ASUS + 3500+ for $250 a couple months ago, and then they did the CPU w/ ECS board. Probably would have gone for that one, but I'm happy with the better ASUS board, so no biggie.

ECS is now personally blacklisted. I tried two of their KN1 SLI Extreme mobos, and each were DOA. One with a bad primary PCI-E slot, the RMA with a bad secondary PCI-E slot.

Replaced with an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe and installed and running perfectly.
