Just because they can't explain why it happens doesn't mean there isn't a correlation that has been reproduced consistently. You don't have to know the mechanisms to know that it happens. You have to reverse engineer from there to find out why. It doesn't mean it doesn't happen though. You asked for research, I supplied it. If you don't think it's sufficient, that's fine, but I cited research. The burden of proof is now on you to retort.

except you didn't prove anything, because I've already seen those before and have also seen plenty of research showing a positive effect on hair. can you explain that? burden of proof is on you as well. too bad this would go in an endless loop because dhea knowledge is still in infancy.

I haven't seen any papers like that. I'd like to see them if you have them. I do acknowledge that there's not a whole lot known about DHEA, but I wouldn't suggest supplementing it without knowing more about its effects, short and long term.

Something else that caught my eye about DHEA.

Life Expectancy
Several studies conducted with mice demonstrated that DHEA supplementation is effective for extending natural life expectancy. In one study, researchers supplemented mice with DHEA in their drinking water. Two years later, 9 of the 10 DHEA mice were alive and healthy versus only 5 of 20 control mice. While similar studies with humans do not exist, a great deal of evidence supporting the efficacy of human DHEA supplementation for health concerns has been accumulating for several years.

Personally, I wouldn't start supplementing something based on animal research alone. Animal research is a precursor to human research that can give interesting ideas, but many times the same processes don't work out in humans. The mice are mammals, but they aren't primates so sometimes the enzymatic processes work very differently.
