I planned on checking out Diablo 3 on the 360, but I guess none of my friends are getting it. Does anyone know of any differences between the ps3 and 360 version? Any cool stuff for only one console that would make it worth it?

Thanks. I looked it up and it looks like ps3 gamers get 5 in game items, but going off my prior history with these types of games, I'm guessing they will be garbage and something you replace soon.

on most multiplatform games the Xbox version usually looks slightly better and runs slightly smoother.

im just mad that the consoles get a superior version of the game. can be played single player offline like old school Diablo.

Blizzard wont implement it on PC though.

A game like Diablo 3 is going to be identical on both systems. Even on the PC, it runs on the lowest ends of hardware on purpose, to sell copies to anyone and everyone.

A lot of reviewers are noting that they prefer the console versions of D3 over the PC version, because of no RL cash auction house, extremely fluid controls, and better co-op play. The 360 version seems to be getting ever so slightly higher review scores over the PS3 version, but I don't have direct experience.

Oh but I am...

360 out performs PS3 on almost every multiplatform game!

Looking at recent Eurogamer face offs I disagree. In Splinter cell blacklist they noted the 360 version while slightly better looking texture wise had a lower frame rate with more dips and looking at the screenshot it appears to suffer from crushed blacks, in bioshock infinite they noted that the PS3 has slightly lower resolution but was nearly impossible to detect since the FXAA blurs both so heavily but the real issue was the input lag on the 360 game. The PS3 game had better controls and responded to inputs more accurately. In Tomb raider they said that the PS3 offered the best overall Image Quality while both offered slightly inconsistent performance, sometimes dipping below the 30fps mark when action is heavy. They did note that the 360 version suffered from this slighty less. In Metro Last Light they noted the FMVs were higher resolution (almost the same as the PC) on the PS3 version while also keeping a 5fps average lead in frame rate throughout the game. The 360 often dropped to 20fps. The only downside is texture streaming off the disk.

So it's not as cut and dry as you make it seem.

GTA4 renders at a lower native resolution on PS3 and runs at a lower framerate. Same with Red Dead Redemption and I assume GTA5 will be the same way since its the same engine, but we'll see when that game comes out.

Saints Row games also run better on 360. Call of Duty holds it's 60fps lock on 360 whereas it dips on PS3. The entire Assassin's Creed series runs noticeably better on 360 although they lessened the gap on AC3 it's still definitely there. Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City also run noticeably better on Xbox 360, with Digital Foundry also noting "Overall, the 360 version is indeed the slightly better performer of the two releases - par for the course when it comes to Unreal Engine 3."

So it seems Unreal Engine 3 in general performs better on 360. Probably because 360 has the better GPU, whereas PS3 relies a lot more heavily on the CPU, which is probably why the best results on PS3 only really come from 1st party dev's like Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch.

GTA4 is probably the only game where I've heard the 360 has an edge. In every other case they are near identical

All you ever do is make stuff up. Just go away.

It's true. PS3 shines in exclusive games but a lot of multiplatform games run better on the 360. There's a long laundry list of well documented examples. Skyrim and Marvel vs Capcom 3 are pretty obvious ones. The primary reason is the PS3's sub optimal ram allocation and slightly less powerful GPU. I find it pretty crazy that console fans can get mad if someone says one piece of hardware is higher performing than the box they bought.

How powerful computer hardware is is a known value. It isn't some emotional thing that is subject to what fans want. It doesn't make you less of a person for having bought a PS3 and it doesn't make the PS3 a bad console. The PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One, the Radeon 7970GE is more powerful than the Geforce GTX 680, the i7 4770k is more powerful than the FX8350. None of these statements should trigger an emotional response in anyone.

Very well said, nothing wrong with owning both PS3 and Xbox360. It's just a matter of personal preference.

I was talking to this one idiot the other day who said the PS4 will have better graphics than the Nintendo 64. One is a 64-bit system and the other is just 4. Duh.

I couldnt possible imagine playing D3 on a controller, tons of people talk about FPS's as the defacto game to highlight keyboard/mouse but I would think this would be it.

That said there probably is not a hell of a lot of differences between the two, iGPU's handle it alright at 720p as it is on PC's.

Everywhere I've read has said that's it's actually better played on a controller.

D3 reminded me of Dragon Age 2 in that regard... combat is so simplistic that it's probably better suited for a controller.

So they have offline play for consoles but can't add that in for PC? I might consider buying it if I could play offline on PC. As it is, there is some form of latency even when playing solo.

is it true that there's also no real money AH on the console version?

that would probably solidify my buying it for my xbox.
