I know a lot of hate floated around for the original, but I personally liked it.

Here we are, the first expansion for Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls

Wow-style expansion for Wow-style diablo game. Increase the level cap, add in next tier of content (act 5), new class. Do nothing to address the fact that the game is completely flawed, and instead of releasing the promised itemization patch (TM) in a timely fashion just put it in the expansion in 2014. Instead of giving ppl decent PVP that was promised and previewed at blizzcon just settle for the 1-day effort that took nearly a year to implement.

It would have taken one hell of an impressive expansion to get me to buy after the disappointment I derived from this abortion of a game, but the expansion that they're making is exactly what I expected. Definitely not buying or receiving as a gift.

At this point I agree. They create some great CGI, if they could allocate funding for a full-length CGI film (extreeeeeemely expensive) with the expectation of making a buck - they should go that way from now on.

Their ability to make good games has apparently gone to the dogs, at least as far as Diablo goes. The best thing about this game are the cinematics sadly. The actual game is diarrhea.

And it's not even some high-horse nerd talk. I'm REALLY not interested. Spent full $59.99 on D3... beat it once and haven't touched it since. It's not even installed on my PC.

Why? Blizzard are awful at writing stories, awful at creating engaging characters, and only good at creating lore behind worlds. The Warcraft world has great lore, but the story is terrible. Starcraft is the same. I like SC2, but the story is far from something I'd want to watch a movie about.

I still think the core mechanic of the game hasn't been addressed. You farm more to get better gear to farm more. Repeat indefinitely. While this was ok in 1990s it doesn't fly in 2013.
You can't have your entire game based around endless farming to get better gear to do more farming. It doesn't take long to hit a wall where it's either thousands of hours for a one slight upgrade or keep your sanity and quit.
Blizzard we need other things to do! Lottery, pvp, artifact collecting and a million other ideas are ignored by blizzard to change around the gear. Putting a band aid on full artery cut is essentially what they are doing. Sure the xpac can give us 100-1000 more hours but it will be the same stale feeling when the uniqueness has worn off.

Disagree. Farming game is fun when implemented well. D3's mechanics are not, the items are boring and you're pigeonholed into 1 or 2 builds.

Boring items = nobody cares. I don't want to spend all my time getting upgrades to my immortal king's for 10 more str/vit/whatever.
