Everyone CAN play it. Question is why would you want to? Titan Quest was better than D3.

I doubt that. After Immortal Throne came out it was a complete mess. Fortunately the community was able to fix it.

Diablo 3 epitomizes everything that is wrong with gaming today and it disgusts me. It use to be that if a game was released buggy and unfinished it was the death knell in that games history but with the proliferation of the internet publishers started to adopt the release now and patch later mantra. With time they also realized that they could easily get more money out of gamers with microtransactions and overpriced DLC which makes more money with significant less effort than a full fledged expansion pack. Whomever thought up the idea of charging $10 for a virtual shirt for my virtual toon is a genious! *Glares at EA!*

Which brings us to D3. A game which is built around the RMAH. Too bad the game sucks. The 7 million copies it sold in the first week was all due to the success of D2, It's a shame that nobody that worked on D2 is still at blizzard. Oh how far we have fallen since the days of Black Thorne and Warcraft. I spent $250 on a 7850 to replace my aging GTS 250 and the game still runs like a horrible unoptimized pile of poopoo! Game is dead and it took them less than a month to completely kill a 16 year franchise!

Here's a gem of a quote from Bashiok:

It's intentional. We don't want a game where the most effective way to play is to dodge in and out of enemy attacks. It's not that difficult to do, and it's just not a very fun way to play."

lol wut? Dogding isn't fun? As opposed to what, getting one-hit killed? They are basically forcing you to get hit so that you have to gear up using the RMAH instead of using your skill to overcome the game.

Titan Quest was a great game. Probably the best A-RPG next to Diablo2. for those that haven't seen it, here is a video of Grim Dawn. The successor to TQ due out next year.

And finally get ready to either cream your pants or cry at what diablo 3 could have been compared to this game:

I haven't played the previous Diablos, but I decided to pick up D3 as a victim of the hype (to my own fault). While I enjoyed the game, I'm pretty disappointed that I dropped $60 on it. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, but I beat the game and then what? Replay the game on a harder difficulty, with better specs and that's it? I was expecting more content and longer play time with it. I haven't fired it up in the last 2 wks at least. Went back to BF3.

Bummer. It sounds like you didn't really understand the goal of the Diablo games when you purchased. Beating the game on normal isn't the final objective FWIW.

I'm not seeing the same disappointment that a lot of people are regarding D3. I've slowly hacked my way through Normal and am going through Nightmare right now. It's been a fun, if predictable, experience. After seeing Blizzard not push the genre at all with SCII, I wasn't expecting a game changer with D3. We pretty much got D2 with better social options. I also don't see how they are forcing you to use the RMAH. They actually decreased the difficulty of Inferno with the last patch and helped the loot wall by adjusting drops in Hell and Inferno. There's always the gold auction house too, which has pretty much everything that the RMAH has.

Overall, the ~20 hours I spent in normal was more play time than in most games these days. Messing with alts and getting through Nightmare and Hell will push that to 100 easy. Sounds like an okay deal to me.

I hope nobody wasted money on the game at all. It is a disappointment. The graphics sucks ass. At vsync 60fps, It only loaded up 50% of my 5850 a stone age card by now. And I almost fell asleep while playing. I would rather spent $10 on some pay to play android games.

Maybe I'll go back and give it a shot again. I'm not saying it wasn't fun, just didn't seem like there was a point to playing the game over aside from getting better specs. That's not to say that I wouldn't enjoy it again.

This is def. true from my perspective as well. Although I don't consider myself a true gamer. I tend to get bored with games pretty quickly except for the BF series. I'd say I play that pretty regularly.

Having played d2 and having played wow from vanilla on i think the problems with D3 are:
1. Scripted / instanced battles. I'd call D3 "WoW Lite".
2. Oversimplified mechanics. Thisis also why i quit wow. In d2 you had vast choice of how to spec the chars and how to gear them. if you screwed up you had to relevel, but that was easy. Your build was unique and well suited your play style. Now the game is not complex enough to be uniquely geared to your play style. Now you just run around casting spells waiting for boss to die.
3. Worse social aspec of the game than d2.

I can talk about the gameplay/story failings but this has to be the shittiest Blizzard game engine ever. I can run maxed out Skyrim at 60 FPS all day long but yet my 4.1GHz 2500K / 5850 cannot run this at a constant 60 FPS yet it takes a dump to 30 every now and then.

Don't worry at the rate Blizz is handling things even the dumbest of suckers won't find any appeal to sink money into this half-assed product. You can't set up a cashier point and expect money to keep rolling in when you have nothing of substance in the shop.
