Diablo I

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the world of gaming - I have several FPS video games but have little experience with RPGs. An acquaintence of mine offered to sell me his copy of Diablo I for $10. I know it's an old game and I feel he's asking too much, but if i can bargain down to $5, I might do it.

Can anyone explain to me in a nutshell what is the object of Diablo? Is it any fun?

A long time ago, I bought a copy of Warcraft and STILL haven't figure out to play it. Now i'm skeptical of buying any type of RPG games cuz honestly, I just can't figure out how to play it, as in... moving the characters around good enough to fight the enemies.

diablo 1 owns diablo 2... atmosphere is way better. at any rate, its hack/slash or cast spells.. very fun though! easily worth $5-$10

Fight things, lvl up, add stat points, buy spells/potion/armor, rinse and repeat..beat diablo GG.

Diablo isn't an RPG, its an action game. That said, the game play is very simple. You click with the mouse button. Thats it.

10 USD is too expensive, you can get a new copy from many e-tailers for that price.

for single play i think diablo1 is better but if you ever multiplay then diablo2 owns

think you can get the whole diablo set new at the bargain bin for less

yes... use an old or get a cheap mouse to use with diablo, I went through a few

You can get Diablo 1 + Hellfire for cheap, I wouldn't get it used. Diablo 2 was better though. In Diablo 1 the atmosphere was definitely better, but the character progression was 10x better in Diablo 2. In Diablo 1 a warrior could cast any spell a mage could, and a mage could fight. So it was pretty retarded like that.

$10 is more than it costs new here. I can pick it up new at the local game store for $4.99. If he doesnt play it anymore he should just give it to you since its so damn old and cheap.

Buy the battlechest which includes the original game. Trust me though, you'll end up playing Diablo 2 much more though.

I didn't play Diablo 1 when it first came out, so maybe I'm missing some of the appeal... but Diablo 2 was a lot more fun, to me.

D2 was an awesome diversion from Everquest when I took one of my longer breaks from it before finally quitting... you have no idea the appreciation you can have for simple, fast hack-and-slash gameplay when you've gotten used to sitting around for hours

D1 was scarier just because you can't run, you only walk. D2 really spoiled me with that.

Try to bargain down to $5. If you can't you'll still get your money's worth with $10.

It was a great game!

Advice: be a Mage. Definately tougher to start but by the end you'll be able to walk into a room and say "All of you die now!" Warrior gets a bit old. Rogue is pretty fun too.

diablo rocks. do it.

you'll figure out how to play it as long as you keep clicking on the enemies and making sure you pick up their fallen baggage (swords, etc -- good weapons and armor = important)
