Diablo II was a good game but I feel it never had the atmosphere of Diablo I. I remember playing Diablo I with headphones on late and night and jumping in my chair the first time I encountered the Butcher. The idea of going deeper and deeper into an unknown dungeon was way better than running across a bunch of landscape.

I'd like to see Diablo 3 go back to the 'dig deeper' idea.

Eh? Is this legit? I've surfed a D2 forum for three years and seen any number of "D3 is coming omfg!11!1!!" threads, but none that seem as convincing as this...anyone?

If this is true, I'm going to have to figure out my priorities...here I was planning on letting WoW consume me for at least another 2 years like D2 did to me for 4. Now I'll have competition by 2008 or so when Blizz released D3, if this is in fact true...wow.

1.10 made me finally quit..if you guys look at my name on here it may sound familar from bnet..i had over 10 accts and became a seller cause dueling was no challenge...but 1.10 killed everything..id give all 10 accts away if someone found a way to bring back the excitement i had when i first started playing d2 non expan..

i felt diablo II lacked atmosphere... there was really nothing creepy/spooky about it.... it still is a good game, by all means, but some of the 'improvements' detracted from the feel of being in a big dungeon where you could get pwned in about 5 seconds if you were too stupid. if they make a diablo 3, i hope its damn good and they bring back a lot from diablo1 - as far as atmosphere goes, anyway
