Diablo or Starcraft MMO?

I would have to go with starcraft as D3 is being released soon and there are to many sword / magic type mmo and not enough futuristic ones like starcraft would be.

Plus I would love to join in a zergling rush against some poor humans.

I think either game would work out well since Blizzard has given both universes a pretty decent story to back the games.

Although, I think StarCraft would be more interesting, because Diablo is already a lot more like a MMORPG since it's an Action RPG. Well essentially... a StarCraft MMO would be exactly like the transition between WarCraft III and World of Warcraft.

The only negative thing is that I've seen a lot of complaints from people about how WoW kind of destroyed the Warcraft lore, because now every baddie has been killed by a "tough group of adventurers". I think Blizzard has kind of fixed that problem with Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm as you get

Starcraft MMO FPS! NOT RPG! Taking inspiration from Starcraft, PLanetside, Battlefield and WW2 Online. Huge maps, construction of bases, etc etc etc.

Who in the hell would not want to drive a Thor over the battlefield, bringing death to your enemies who are live players?

I talked about this in the Diablo III thread, but Diablo III is effectively a "MMO-Lite." It has a lot of the same concepts found in MMOs except for a true persistent world.

Don't even know how you'd do a SC MMO. Unless you mean turn the SC universe into an MMO... but I'd rather not have a turn based WoW clone.

You can't forget that StarCraft and WarCraft are effectively not that much different. Hell, StarCraft 1 was originally joked as being "WarCraft in Space" because the original game designed looked so much like WarCraft. They changed it to look a bit more gritty... more Diablo like than WarCraft like.

If they took the Starcraft IP and turned it in to a Realm vs. Realm type game à la Dark Age of Camelot, it'd be pretty effing awesome. As long as they did NOT have Battlegrounds or Arenas (these things killed Warhammer Online) or any instanced content whatsoever.

I would play it if that were the game. Diablo 3 and WoW do not appeal to me at all.

Because not every unit in Starcraft shoots? If Starcraft goes MMO no way they make it FPS. Blizzard should cash in on the 3 factions and do the RvRvR thing like mentioned above. They won't make a starcraft MMO anytime soon though. They've said Titan will be a completely unique ip and their roadmap did not list any other unknown projects until 2015.

Just because some of the units in SC don't shoot doesn't mean it can't be an FPS. Regardless of whether they went FPS or RPG a LOT would be lost in translation.

It is possible to show shooting things in an RPG environment. You cannot emulate melee units properly in an FPS.

The roadmap says Q4 2013 but everything outside of the WoW section on that leaked roadmap has been wrong I believe.

Starcraft as a MMOFPS (would need a lot of work though)
Diablo as a MMORPG (would probably need more races/classes to work)
Pokemon as a getting the kids off the Xbox/PS3 console type of game.

Blizzard already announced their new MMO is going to be an all new IP, so it's useless to argue for either one.
