hey, it looks good. gets 9 for its looks

LOL, makes me want to rip the guts out of an ugly but great working PSU and put it in this one. Well, only if I got one of these for free because I would never willingly pay for a PSU that crappy.

wow, can barely turn out half its rated power. This is why its worth going for a proven name brand PSU.

Thanks OP. I was looking forward to this "review" but got busy and forgot about it. Will read it after Dancing with the Stars and Castle. ^_^

I did. Seriously! I personally chipped in money (not the whole amount, but part) to purchase it from Tiger Direct for the jonnyGURU.com review, since of course the only "reviews" that Diablotek wants are the fake ones they post on Tiger Direct's site.

This is a REAL review. Guaranteed no "golden" sample!

They actually do that? Nothing new, there was that whole fiasco with newegg/rosewill brand but still... Maybe I should check out those "reviews" just to see if they made them look legit or not

No, they're not legit, unless you think 12 people suddenly decide to "review" the exact same unit on the exact same day within minutes of each other and with almost the same "glowing" remarks, all with absurd names.

Anyone with more than two functioning brain cells can see they're just TD employees hyping the power supply/whatever. And this sort of thing just reinforces how sleazy TD really is.

Not a problem at all. Figured sharing this review might keep someone from making an horrible and expensive mistake.

I must say KUDOS! to you, Zap, for contributing to its purchase for OW to blow up.

Thank you!

Well I guess my brain cells pass the test

To be clear, I didn't doubt what Zap posted, just wanted to check it out but was unable to as I was just leaving my work space. Now that I look at it, they couldn't have made it any more obvious as you say. The reviews are real short with generic wording, clumped on certain dates.

Most "real reviews" I have seen are either an long-winded, be it an enthusiastic endorsement or a furious rant. People simply wouldn't bother to post reviews at the merchants sites unless they feel strongly about something either way or feel a need to point something out.

I was starting to grow fond of TD of late and overlook their shady past with rebates and whatnot, but I guess they are TD after all

I was, too, but that and one of their stores has completely and permanently soured me on TD forever.

We were in Jacksonville, FL attending an auction a few months ago. After the auction was completed, we stumbled upon a TD retail establishment while messing around before heading home. So, being the computer junkie I am, we stopped in.

The store was brightly lit, almost blindingly so, and we were "greeted" by an employee when we entered---"Can I help you?"

"Not right now, thanks."

"OK....just yell if you need some help."

Well, that was the last we saw of any other living human being while we were in the store. We lasted maybe 15-20 minutes inside. Stock of stuff was a jumbled mess...nothing where it was supposed to be.

Best brands of memory they had was Ultra, despite having empty slots listing other brands in the display case.

Only Ultra computer cases, Ultra power supplies. Sorry to say, but Ultra=junk.

Store wasn't the cleanest place I've ever been in. Not exactly a horse stall, mind you, but both Fry's and MicroCenter put it to shame for organization and cleanliness. Heck, even the worst Best Buy or CompUSA or Circuit City, when they were in business, were better organized and cleaner.

Like I said, we never saw any other human again....no other customers, no employees, no one at the checkout counter.....no one. Was like browsing in a ghost store. And this was on a Saturday.

Absolutely the worst computer oriented store I've ever been in. And it'll be the last time I'll ever set foot in a TD or TD-owned store.

I got a kick out of this review for the product

"great performanse. i simply instaled it and it gives me the power i need. the best part of all there is no sound affects, and that alows me to work and think a lot better. i recomend this product to everyone."

I don't know I kind of like sound effects with my power supplies.

Then there are the names of these "reviewers". Lets not even make an effort at it, there is dv, sp, sb, ev, pv, zv, na, dr, tt, mv, rv, lv, nv, rm, at, bb and all posted on the same day.

Sigh, I think I'm getting burned by TD as of right now. I recently purchased two 5870's from them using Bing to get $60 back on each one. I did everything correctly, got to the final screen, it showed I was getting bing cashback, and I even took screenshots of the whole deal. It's been 3 weeks and I'm still working to get my Bing to show as pending even after submitting the screenshots to microsoft and TD. Still a bunch of scammers in my book.

Well, if TD employees posted reviews on their site, I'd imagine that they would do so on Ultra branded products since it is part of the same company, not Diablotek who is just another brand they carry.

Speaking of reviews, I think that some of the same reviewers reviewed multiple Diablotek PSUs around the same time.

I must say KUDOS! to you, Zap, for contributing to its purchase for OW to blow up.

You're welcome, though really I have to give credit to Bing Cashback for their generous contribution to my Paypal account. And just to reiterate, I did not pay for the whole thing but merely contributed part of the purchase price.

Oh deer!
Looks like the junkers have allied together,

LOLOLOL!

limiting reviews to people who have bought the products would go a long way towards making them more legitimate....even then you have people blaming products for their own ignorance

That's rather charitable of you, MagickMan. Doesn't even come close to what I thought when I read that bald faced lie.

"Diablotek! When you want your hardware to act like it's been possessed by the Devil."

Sadly, their target market (the CompUSA walk-in customer) is unlikely to need a 500 watt PSU, so these might as well be sold as 20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 megawatt units and the target market won't miss a beat. The rationale for the wildly optimistic ratings on all "consumer" units, really.

Utter junk

stick with Seasonic

Yes where are the regulations??!

This reminds me of those stereo amps that are rated 100 watts/channel but will test on a bench into 8 ohms at about 13 watts (onset of clipping) and much more the distortion increases tenfold. It's kind of hard for an amp rated at 200W (100/ch) to live up to that rating with a power supply of 70VA!
