Dial up pop up is annoying!

Just got dsl and installed a router/firewall (ugate3200)and every time I access a program that requires the internet, the dial up box appears. How do I get rid of it? What is really annoying is the programs that I literally have to click "cancel" about 15 times before it lets me alone. I looked for a setting to disable it in each program this happened in, but never found one. What I would like is a one click way to disable it system wide. I have tried control panel and internet options to no avail. Registry? Help would be appreciated. Win98SE OS.

In internet explorer click tools>internet options...>connections tab>click "dial whenever a network connection is not present" also you may need to click the "lan settings..." button and put the ip address of the computer with the firewall software installed in proxy settings usually port 80. I'm not sure on this...anyone else?

I don't have a proxy and I dont use IE, only netscape. The firewall resides on the router. My network goes something like this....Internet, DSL modem, Router/firewall/hub, computers. I use netscape. There must be a setting in netscape because the dsl software I installed set up a netscape profile and that profile does not ask me for the dial up connection. I am thinking there must be a system wide setting because even my time syncronizing program (which is VERY generic) wants a connection. Programs that want the connection are: real player, MS media player, NIST time sync, all but one Netscape profile, Napster, Outlook Express,....get the idea. Thanks Kailord.

KaiLord is correct. The settings in MSIE properties control the global windows settings (due to that whole deal with MS windows/browser integration). In case you deleted the MSIE shortcut on the desktop, or don't know how to access MSIE's "Options", then go to "Control Panel" >> "Internet Options" >> "Connections" and configure everything there.
