The search for an engagement ring is on! Any suggestions for stores, particularly stores in the Bay Area?

Thanks in advance

I like buying my gf jewelry from Ben Bridge, good service and quality. They don't sell jewelry @ discounted prices like Kay and Fred Meyers... They sell 'em for what they're really worth, maybe a lil less. imho, for the price, Ben Bridge has the best quality and reputation.

I'd rate them below Tiffany's and way above Kay, Crecent, Fred Meyers etc.

Also try the Shane Company. Not a discounter, but they have excellent quality and selection along with quality salespeople.

Thanks gentlemen...

I was thinking about Tiffany's. I know they're one of the most expensive out there, but I know the women love the "Tiffany & Co" logo.

But isn't it a little cheesy to have a big logo like that on your ring?

Also, I'm assuming Tiffany's isn't negotiable on price. How about some of the other places mentioned? (Ben Bridge, Kay, etc)

Thanks again

Just to save you some time, avoid the Jewelry Exchange in Tustin. That place always advertises great diamonds at low prices but when you see them they're all yellow or have no sparkle to it. I Tried to buy my mom a pair of diamond earings for her birthday, when I went down there they had no matching pairs ones yellow ones clear or both are yellow. Also the ants and ant baits in their display cases makes it look bad.

Shane Co is nice if you guys have them out that way. I went there to look and they are expensive as I don't know what, but the store is bad a$$ and everyone is real nice. I can tell you this much, if you have Freidman's out there DO NOT go there! I have a friend that did and the rock itself is nice, but the service sux and the people are just all around dumb!

Just my $.02, hope it helps a little

Before you do any shopping, spend some time at Good Old Gold.

I started my research there and ultimately ended up buying from Jonathan (the proprieter of that site).

I'm proposing tonight.

Why not get a man made diamond. It is more pure the the reg. ones and does not use slave labor like reg diamonds.

I think you can find them online, maybe someone else knows??

man made diamonds are really small and they are not clear, the color is dark. thats why they use them for industrial purporses only or else someone can just make a lot of diamonds and destroy the diamond market, which btw is a monopoly controllered by de beers. there are other gems that are more rare than diamonds, but if you must, this place HeartsOnFire supposedly cut some of the nicest diamonds, but im not sure of the difference in pricing.

Not anymore. The newwer process can make them up to 2carets and they are crystal clear. They look like a perfect diamond. The only way to tell them apart s to hold them under a special light.
