I also have one of these still in use in one of my old (Celeron 300@450) PCs. This is NOT A HOT DEAL AT THE PRICE! Way back when it was still current technology, as in just before the release of the original GeForce, I paid $122 for it NEW at Buy.com.

Pricing aside, this card is still very useful! There are some older games that really didn't like my GeForce2 nor GeForce4 - they'd run but details were missing or I had a lot of "pop up" terrain! So all I did was to do shut down the PC and swap the video card; no need to install new drivers thanks to NVidia's unified driver.

I'd be curious as to how this card would stack up compared to some built-in video, like Intel's Extreme 3D. Any current card would blow it out of the water in games, but for 2D this thing is just as good as my Ti4200, IMO.

FYI, if anyone buys this card (NOT FOR $149 - MAYBE $20-30), beware that the included CD driver will have NVidia Detonator 1.88!!! Get some 6.32s - they worked the best on TNT2. The card also has several full games included IF IT'S THE RETAIL BOX!

Yeah, I got a stack of old Diamond V330 TNT (1) PCI cards for free (NIB), I sold them to my friends for around $25-30 a piece. They were great for older systems. I gave them the 12.41 Dets to go along with them, I think that they are probably the best for that era card. One of my friends played MechWarrior 4 on it, and was happy with it. A bit too slow for UT2003 though, as one of my other friends replaced it with a Radeon 7500, which is much better, but still a bit slower than I would personally care for. A 9000 would probably have been the better choice, but the 7500 was around half the price at the time.

As for the person that said this is a mis-price, I'm not so sure. They list it among other cards like the Ti4200 and Radeon 7000/8500/9000. I think that whoever did their web site/inventory details for this card, didn't realize how old this card really is.

I currently have a GF2 MX AGP4x 32MB card in my XP2000+ box, and that only cost me $20 (used, card-only). The place I got it from had Voodoo 3 3000 AGP cards for $10, and they are comparable, performance-wise, with the TNT2 cards that Amazon is selling. If they actually *are* supposed to be $14.90 (which I doubt), then that really would be a steal, for older systems, especially if that is the retail-box package with the TV-out support. Just don't expect to be able to play any games that require hardware T&L or vertex/pixel-shader support (which is most current games).

I like this line in their review:

"We put the Viper V770 Ultra to work on a 333 MHz Celeron system running Windows 95 and DirectX 6.1 using the Quake II time-demo test."

Wow, that's one state-of-the-art setup
