I'll be surprised if they don't try to block it. Did anyone forget Tommy Tubberville is a Senator?
I'm still waiting for the drone strike on his house after his most recent cock-blocking idiocy. He's a prime example of why one person in Congress should not have the power/control to hold things up like that. It's incredibly stupid and broken that it happens because of one stubborn imbecile enjoying the spotlight and control.

Being the last deciding vote on an issue or bill is one thing but a one-man filibuster? Fuck that jerk.

Yep, came in here to say I don't trust Klown Kontrol Kevin could stop the freedumb caucus from blocking any appointment either.

The Senator's staff reports that she intends to continue working.

I don't mean to make light of Feinstein's passing, but I just couldn't pass this one up in order to follow up with your reasoning and infer what their staff could've been thinking. (Too soon?)

RIP, Diane. You done good.

And like how Kevin agreed to a deal with the Senate and went back on his word because he wants to keep his job over keeping the nation running. This proves beyond doubt that the Republicans cashed in whatever smidgin was left of their credibility and legitimacy the moment Trump declared that "Mexico will pay for the (his) wall."

It seems to be a favorite sport of many to crap on Feinstein for not retiring. How do you people address the issue of the GOP blocking her replacement from taking a seat on the judiciary committee for the balance of this Congressional term-which would cause this extremely important committee to be stalemated which equals a very big GOP win.

Probably she should have not run for office for this term, but those that crapped on her for not retiring recently are playing right into Mitch McConnell's grubby hands.

I think they would argue we do have good judges because they view judges as a way to enact policy changes Republicans could never do through normal legislation.
Of course. This goes to the root of bigotry, in my opinion. The fear parents have their children will face social condemnation ruining their self respect leads to a profound loss of what real self respect is, substitution in its place by force of violence and putdowns, applied, of course, for our own good, whatever the parents and the local human environment deems ego identification with to confer being good.

This good, after rigorous and through inculcation at the cost of our true nature, no matter how violatory of our true nature, becomes later in life the unexamined assumptions that engenders the feeling that one is a good person because one worships the real good, a good, of course, which can be anything at all and obviously absurd to those of us following a different program or perhaps none at all. It should be the wish of every person who aspires to conscious awareness to become familiar, internally this process and what it does.

I think it’s f-ing disgusting that she or who ever was helping her thought the situation was bad enough that she had to stick around instead of retiring peacefully. Everyone in Congress should be ashamed of themselves!

Nah - she was doing important work. Public service is supposed to be about putting the country before yourself. If you don't want to do that fine, but don't run for office then.
I think fskimospy has the more realistic view and ivwshane having a view closer to how I feel. I think this is one of those the perfect can get in the way of the good situations.

I addressed it directly. I don’t blame her I blame the system in which she felt she had to stay in order for the right thing to happen. It’s fucked up and goes to show how broken our system is.

I agree which is why I'm still pissed at RBG. She didn't have that excuse.

Um, wait. Didn't the GOP block a Supreme Court pick for over a year during the Obama admin?
She literally didn't have a choice unless she retired during Obama's first term.

- He's making the right decision, but I'm betting that whoever he picks is gonna get a taste of the good life and run anyway with the whole "I want to give the citizens of California a choice" schtick.
Barbara Lee is trailing in 3rd, so even if Newsom appointed her, it wouldn't pre-ordain the open seat election. AFAIK Lee is in good health but after Feinstein hung on for way too long, Lee's age is disqualifying.

If and when he appoints someone else, I doubt that Senator can defeat Schiff or Porter.

With the absolute circus that is happening in the house right now, Senate Republicans might be choosing discretion as a wiser course of action here. Last thing the Pubs need right now is to be seen as a party of dysfunction across the board from their House Majority to their Presidential Candidate to the Senate as well.

Honestly modern Pubs are acting more like mid-00's Dems with the amount of shootings of the foots that have been going on recently. We have undergone a shadow flip in the parties here that will take another 20 years to sus out.

I remember the time when the Pubs were the marching in lockstep party, but those times seem like a distant memory now.
The reason is because today's GOP isn't one party or even one coalition. You have traditional conservatives, and then the MAGA Trumpian wing that was borne from the Tea Party wackos. The latter extremists are really a separate gang that is loosely affiliated with the GOP. The problem for the country is that moderates have left the GOP so the balance has shifted towards the extremists, even if they seemingly number in the few. Kevin McCarthy reps a pretty conservative district and he's never been accused of being a moderate Republican, but the Freedumb Caucus treats him like dirt anyway.

Give the seat to the spineless house speaker 🤣🤣🤣. His days are numbered and he’d fight to be senate party leader. Requirement, Jeffries gets house speaker 🤪
