Did a lot of people get ripped off when the PS2 were selling on egay?

I heard someone sold someone a box and a receipt.

Yeah, hundreds of stupid people bought PS2s for $500-$2,000. I bought mine about a month ago for $300

You betcha. There were alot of people who paid wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over retail for those things. Myself, I bought one for $279.99 a couple of months ago.

my brother put his up for auction on eGay and the winning bid was for $910

I told him there was no way the guy was ever gonna pay that and 3 weeks later still no word from the kid. Then out of no where the guy contacted my bro and asked if he still had it and actually paid the $910. Some people for more money than brains...

I remember someone pulled a scam by only selling the ps2 box and not the actual unit. The title of the auction was something like "sony playstation 2 box" or something like that and the seller did a pretty good job of trying to trick you into thinking you were buying a ps2.. anyways the buyer didnt really have any legal recourse since he technically got what was advertised. It was pretty funny.

I got the PS2, Extra controller, Madden 2001, Memory card, and Armageddon
DVD.... wasn't a bad deal

Essentially it was capitalizing on people who don't read.
