We have not been able to replicate the remarkable jump in intellect between primates and humans in a controlled scientific environment. There is no evidence that would make any credible scientist believe that we evolved from primates. There are theories that humans were once aliens that were stranded on this planet. It is possible that the original aliens that came to earth were much larger, and that evolution caused us to get smaller due to the supply of food, which explains the alarming number of giant-like humanoid skeletons that are being uncovered.

If you take A and take C, that does not prove B (the missing link that "proves" evolution". It could be that on earth there was only ever A, and C is an alien life form.

Holy shit.

Look, if you like being an idiot, fine. But please don't spoil life for the erst of us.

What about giants that were even bigger than Andre? Why not?

We're still quite primitive. Give us some time and that may very well happen in a lab, and it's more likely to happen with an AI first rather than biologically. Though by the time we program a great AI, the distinction will be quite small.

OP, they are still around.

Look at this piece of evidence - one of these giants is using the leaning tower of Pisa, to rest her feet.

Lost Giants is a show on the History Channel I'm watching now. Two researchers on the hunt for the lost giants of yesterday.

From the text :

Beyond the Biblical accounts (such as David and Goliath), there are the accounts of the Babylonian king Gilgamesh. In stone tablets that have been recovered, there are images carved of Gilgamesh taking on a lion. In looking at the scale of the ancient carvings, it appears this man had to have been at least 12 to 14 feet tall taking into consideration the size of the lion he is portrayed to have slain.

This is so easy, Gilgamesh did not slay a lion and was not a giant...
Gilgamesh was of normal size and he had slain a cat...

There were The Nephilim in ancient bible times. Giants that were the offspring of fallen Angels that made bodies to take the beautiful women for their own. The DNA from the perfect bodies of the men and the imperfect bodies of the women must have collided to create some bizarre huge being. They became violent too. They were wiped out by the flood and not allowed to do that again. Further proof that women always choose the douche bags.

Just because it is on the "History" channel doesn't mean the programming has any basis in reality. One look at the shows on there would tell you that.

Ancient Aliens
UFO Hunters
Nostradamus Effect

A lot of their programming is fictional nonsense.

Would a giants lungs function the same as ours?
What I mean is that if you were suddenly enlarged to be 13ft tall, I dont think you would be able to breath because all air molecules would be proportionately half the size your lungs are conditioned for.
Also, how would their overly large sized nostrils stop larger objects from entering?
If I was to believe that there were giants on earth at some point then I would think they would have to be on a much different evolutionary chain than ours, and therefore I doubt they would look anything like us.

Wait wait wait, you're telling me caves are not sacred alien portals to another world?

Thinking back to something I read / watched, I think there are indications the earth had a more oxygen rich environment many moons ago. Whether or not there were 13ft tall giants though, I don't know about that.

Because Andre's size was the result of a disease that, until very recently, led to a greatly-reduced expected lifespan (thus limiting the likelihood and number of potential offspring) and isn't hereditary anyway?

Couldn't Gigantism explain the giants? The tallest known living man was 8'11. That is a giant.

He also had a disease which caused him to die at age 22. In order for gigantism to explain giants, you have to ignore the fact that gigantism is almost universally caused by tumors around the pituitary gland (which can't be passed down genetically, so evolution doesn't apply). And even ignoring that fundamental issue, when a giant has fewer than 10 years of reproductive viability compared to a "normal" person having 30+, evolutionary theory would suggest those genes will be selected against as they negatively impact the organism's ability to spread its genes. Suggesting that evolution is always trying to move towards "bigger, stronger, faster, better" is a fundamental misunderstanding of evolutionary theory. Natural selection favors organisms who are able to reproduce the most effectively; if being bigger means you're less likely to have a long reproductive lifespan, natural selection is not going to favor those genes. All of which is moot because gigiantism isn't hereditary to begin with.

If you're asking whether gigantism could explain the giant fossils from antiquity, it's incredibly unlikely. Even with comparatively modern medicine in the 19th/20th century, people with the condition lost the ability to walk at a young age and lived abnormally short lives. How is someone who can't move going to survive to adulthood in ancient times? Besides which, this show is claiming that there were a race of people who were 12 feet tall running around, and there's literally no evidence to support that claim.

I am not saying the show has any basis in reality, because it doesn't. I am merely suggesting that the stories of our historical "giants" could easily be explained. A lot of history is funny like that. Ramses the Great lived to be around 90 years old; that was 3 times the average life expectancy of the Egyptian of that time. Was he some kind of God? Stories would have you believe it as such.

Ramses and his family lived to be old because he didn't live in pigshit like 98% of the population.

And despite that incredibly significant advantage for the wealthy of that era, all it took was a silly little thing like a broken leg to kill you in your teens.

But that being said, barring exposure to disease, those aristocratic families were probably the least healthy in their time--so many generations of back-crossing and general inbreeding lead to some very sickly genetic stocks. Just goes to show how profoundly the advancements in microbiology shaped the general course of human health.

Even the average age of men was like 58 at death. His reign as pharaoh was longer than generations survived at the time. He was "magical".

But, that is just it though, there are occasional oddities that couldn't be reasonable explained before scientific advancement and the general increase of knowledge among the population. They, instead, went with supernatural explanations. In the realm of giants, seeing a 18 year old that is 9 foot tall is likely to garner some kind of gossip, and since there is little communication and travel beyond the smaller communities of the olden time, nobody hears he was crippled and dead by age 22. Some trader sees an 8 foot Himalayan and tells his companions back in Europe and circles start to talk about how giants inhabit the mountains of Asia.
