Ok I've had my psu like this for a while now on my antec 900 case. I smelled something burning and I hope my PSU didn't burn out when my whole monitor turned white. Every time I try to turn on my monitor by itself without it connected to the PC, it is white. I don't know if this had something to do with it.....

I'm guessing I put my PSU on the wrong side... (Feels like a dummy)

I don't notice anything wrong with your PSU. With the 900 case, the PSU fan is on top, otherwise it'd get no ventilation.

I think the circuitry in your monitor might have burned out if its white without turning on the PC. If you turn on the PC is the monitor still white?

When I turn on the monitor by itself, it is white.

can u take a picture of this white you mean?

If your monitor isnt pluged, and its a standard lcd monitor, when there is no feed, it should go into sleep. Not go white.

Also the burnt smell, im guessing, and note as i said im guessing, you got dust on a internal sink.

As the internal sink got hotter, the dust caught fire, and thats the burnt smell your smelling.

The best thing to do is get a compressed air can, and give your PSU a good cleaning.
Then go out and get a PSU tester if u dont have one, and test the psu.

Lastly... mmmm im wondering if this topic even fits here... you might get better help in videocards.. or general hardware...

He'd have to have temps in excess of 200C to ignite dust, not going to happen.

OP, if I understand correctly, you smelled the burning, then the monitor went white? I imagine your monitor is not plugged into your PC but rather the wall, and I think zerogear had a great suggestion that something might be wrong with the monitor. Have you tried testing the monitor on another PC to see if it still works? Have you tried testing another monitor on your PC to see if it works?

At least you have confirmed that the old monitor is knackered. Have you tried the new monitor yet?
