This is going to be a long story.
Okay... my uncle had a AXP 2400+ (from the Fry's deal) that he wanted to test to see if it worked. He bought the ECS K7S5A Pro along with it and he knew the K7S5A Pro was dead because the fans would only start momentarily and shut off, so he exchanged for a new one, which didn't work either. So he wondered if the CPU was dead. I had an AXP 1600+ in an EP-8KHA+, so we removed the hsf, but there was one slipup so that the screwdriver hit the mobo, but no scratches that cut the circuits are visible. So we put in his 2400+ and no post. So we thought it was a BIOS problem because my 8kHA+ BIOS was pre-2400+. We put my old 1600+ back in because it worked and attempted to flash, but still no post. The fans would all turn on and the hdd and cdd would spin up, but no beep confirming successful boot and nothing on the screen. The post codes don't cycle like in normal bootups, they just automatically go to FF, which in my 8KHA+ manual means bootup attempt.
Troubleshooting:
1. Reseating video card... no post
2. Trying different video card... no post
3. Trying different memory positions... no post
4. Taking out LAN card and soundcard... no post
5. Taking out RAM... no beep and no post
6. Putting my CPU in the ECS K7S5A Pro... I smell burning plastic, take out AXP 1600+, I see yellow goop, not sure if it is CPU innards or AS3
7. Put CPU back into 8KHA+... no more smell, still no post, but fans continue to run
Any other suggestions?
