Did I pick the right major?

I will be majoring in Computer Engineering next fall at Iowa State University. I want to get a job making/designing/analyzing graphic chips. Is this the right major?

I believe so. But there is no way you know what you want to do with your life as a senior in high school. Be open to changing your major if you change your mind. Don't be locked in by the golden handcuffs.

I'm just making a plan. I will embrace the random but there isn't anything wrong with having a plan is there?

I'm a computer engineering major right now and yes if you want to design chips, that's the way to go. Just like jellomancer was saying though, be open minded to changing as computer engineering may not be all you think it is. Also, the job market is terrible right now so don't be too picky when you say you want to work only on graphics chips; more than likely you'll end up working at whatever company wants to give you a job. Hopefully it'll turn around in the next couple years but who knows...
