The whole movie seemed like a giant lump of negative National Geographic stereotypes of India mashed together.
No surprise, then, when it turned out that only the little kids and the guy in charge of the music were actually from India - everyone else was from the U.K. Nothing like a shot of good old-fashioned British jingoism, eh?
Honestly, the whole thing is fake. The script has nothing to do with the original book. 95% of the actors had never even BEEN to India before. The whole movie was completely over-the-top and about as subtle as a cinderblock to the forehead. The acting sucked, the cinematography sucked, and the lighting was annoying. The music was okay, I suppose, if you like that sort of thing.
If you want to see something Indian, see Monsoon Wedding, an altogether better movie.

I think Grand Torino was better than slumdog.
I'm something of a wishy-washy P.C. pinko Liberal type, and I thought that movie kicked ass.
