Summary:
ü The purpose of this communication is to describe PowerBoost?, a service free to all RR Turbo customers.
ü What we should-and should not-do or say to customers about this service is also included.
ü This service has been deployed on our network and we're shortly ramping up the messaging in our Marketing materials.
What is PowerBoost??
· PowerBoost? is a patent-pending network technology that enables Road Runner Turbo customers to experience faster connection speeds while downloading large files from the Internet-up to 22MB when downloading big files. Naturally, we don't 'guarantee' speeds.
· This boost is a temporary increase in speed provided there is network capacity.
· PowerBoost? is FREE to all RR Turbo customers.
· Customers are not limited to a certain number of PowerBoosts?. PowerBoosts? will be granted as often as the customer downloads a file and there is available network capacity.
· While there is no limit to the number of PowerBoosts? that each customer can receive, there is a time limit as to how often a PowerBoost? is provided (approximately 10-15 seconds) provided there is available network capacity.
What do I say to Turbo customers who are expecting a PowerBoost? on their computer and don't see one?
The #1 PowerBoost? Guideline is never schedule a Truck Roll for issues of this nature.
If the diagnostics are good, there isn't anything a Technician could do.
Please let customers with this type of concern know PowerBoost? activates automatically when capacity is available?and there may not be capacity available at the time the customer is on his/her computer.
We don't have visibility into our network to be able to tell a customer if and when capacity may be available at his/her home.
What will Road Runner Turbo customers need to do to get PowerBoost??
After the customer deployment, RR Turbo customers won't have to do anything. If a customer suspects he/she is not getting PowerBoost?, ask them to simply reset the modem by unplugging it from the electrical outlet for 60 seconds and plugging it back in. Resetting the modem, however, will not guarantee customers will get a PowerBoost?.
How will customers know that they have experienced a PowerBoost??
There are no on-screen indicators when a PowerBoost? is taking place, but customers should notice a shorter download time when downloading a large file, such as software, games, music, and photos.
Is there a special Service Code I need to put on customer accounts to make PowerBoost? work?
No, PowerBoost? is included with Road Runner Turbo service.
What happens after the PowerBoost? burst?
Once the PowerBoost? burst is complete, customer downloads will continue at normally provisioned speeds.
Will PowerBoost? work with all customers' modems?
PowerBoost? is compatible with DOCSIS 1.1 cable modems and above. DOCSIS 1.1 cable modems have been in mass-production for the last four years. PowerBoost? is also compatible with Time Warner Cable's certified home networking devices and Time Warner Cable Digital Phone eMTAs.
Is PowerBoost? available to multiple computers within the house (via home networking)?
Yes, it is available on all networked computers in the home that have Road Runner Turbo service.
