Yeah, I went to mine. It was a lot of fun, but it probably is overrated overall. We didn't get a limo and went to McDonald's for dinner (they gave us free food for choosing to dine with them that evening). It was a fun night.

went to mine, it was a blast. overratted? sorta. but i think people are right when they say you'll regret not going. ive heard way too many grandparents say they regretted it. (my friend took his grandma! hilarious. she went home early and then my firend got tons of girls because it made him look sooo nice)

Yes. No date, just friends. It was decent.
If given the choice I would probably do it again just for the hell of it, but it really was nothing super special.

If you're a senior you should go to your prom whether you have a date or not because it really is an entirely different atmosphere than just another dance or date.

I don't miss anybody I went to HS with. I haven't kept in touch with any of them and don't really care to. I still have some friends from my HS days but they didn't go to my school. I'm 32 now and I most certainly don't regret skipping the prom. I went to a few HS dances while I was an underclassman and decided that those kinds of school events are not for me (found them boring). The formals I did have fun at didn't happen until college.

I go to prom, but I find it to be a big bore as I don't dance. Meh.

It's more for the girls than the guys, by far.

I never went to any of my HS dances, but I went to 2+ dances/semester in college, many of which were held at very nice locations, so I don't feel like I missed out on anything overall.

If you don't go to prom, at least go to some of the afterparties lol

That sounds like a much better plan, no wasting your time and money on an expensive dance with no booze. Just cut right to the good stuff.

No.

I'm Homeschooled.

Even if I was public schooled, I don't think I would like to. Waste of money is just one of the many reasons I wouldn't want to go. Dancing sucks too.

if you dont go you wont regret it. you will be like everyone else here who doesnt regreting it because you wont know how much fun it is. if you do go tho you will most likely look back on it as one of the most fun times in highschool. we only had senior proms and i went to mine and my girlfriends. i can honestly say it was prob the best time i had in highschool. you have all of your friends there and possably someone you like. it really isnt an experience to miss.

No, my school was packed with jocks and preppy sissies. Same reason I won't go to a reunion.

I didn't go my junior year. Not really sure why.

I was invited by Kim for my senior year, but said no. I think I was scared.

Me and my friends Kim (guy friend) and Craig ended up at Kim's (the girl) house drinking beers and being stupid.

I went to my girlfriend's senior prom 2 years later when I was 20...

11 years later, Kim (the girl) and I cross paths and start hanging out. She tells me over dinner at The Outback one night that I would have gotten laid after the senior prom if I had said yes. Oh well.

No, though 2 girls asked me to go with them.

I didn't see how it was worth it, when the fun occurs at the after party

I never went my first 3 years, and decided not to go my senior year either. First 3 years I hated the idea, mainly because there is nothing I hate more than dressing up that much.

I had planned on not going my senior year but a friend of mine tricked me into it. I had a date and everything, rented the tux and all. I finally said this is insane that im paying $200 for something that i dont want to do, or go with a friend that i know i have no chance with. I hated being tricked into it in the first place. I went and cancled my tux rental and told my date and my friend that tricked me into going that i wasnt going. I stayed home and watched TNA wrestling instead. A much better and cheaper way to spend the evening.

To each his own I suppose. If you asked me a couple moths ago, I probably would have agreed with you. In fact, up until the prom I wasn't that excited. However, I had a great time dancing and hanging out with all of my friends, not worrying about anything but what song was coming on next. I don't regret going to my prom one bit. It was one of the best times of my life. As for the part of going with some girl that you don't have a chance with, it shouldn't have mattered. I went with a girl I had no chance with and I still had a great time.
