20-30 min before its done depending on size of potato

i ate it out on friday and im cooking it myself today

Interesting. I wouldn't think that would be long enough time in a slow cooker to cook them.

I need to go to a butcher and have them cut a smaller piece of the corned beef. Just a single guy here and it would go to waste.

We Had Corn beef and Cabbage on St Patty's. Wasn't sure if it was OK to have meat on a Friday during Lent but I was assured that the pope had made a dispensation for the holiday. Nothing like corned beef and cabbage sandwiches with mustard the next day using leftovers. Sort of like thanksgiving in its way.

It's not. It's not even close to enough time to do a potato in a slow cooker unless they're cubed at maybe an inch or two.

I did mine on high setting. A 3.5 pound brisket, about 7 medium sized red potatoes and about 8 large carrots were in for 5 hours. Added the cabbage as wedges for the last hour of cooking time and everything came out perfect.

well yea it depends on how you cook them and the type of potato. i used small fingerling heirloom ones today and they cooked in like 15 min. However it should be noted that i make New England Boiled Dinner which is basically Corned beef and cabbage with more things, generally Turnips, parsnips and beets , sometimes also rutabaga,

cabbage and carrots go in for at most an hour, same with turnips, parsnips and the rutabaga, taters for like 30 depending on size and type - cook beets separately

boiled dinner cooks hotter then your slow cooker

Went to a large biergarten after work this evening, a place where the food is hit or miss. They had Irish food on special food another few days. Turns out when it comes to corned beef and cabbage it's a hit. It was seasoned perfectly, the cabbage was tender but still had some bite to it, the corned beef was also tender, the red bliss potatoes cooked pefectly.

Craving for the dish has been fulfilled. And well. Success!

We love corned beef, its one of our favorites and surprisingly easy to cook. All of the salt/spices are in the corned beef and the veggies/broth dont need any subsequent seasoning although u can get fancy and add more if you like. We make our own corned beef in the winter by soaking 2-3 briskets in a strong brine with a ton of spices. We keep them in a huge crock on the porch where the cold temps protect it from spoilage for 2-3 weeks, turning occasionally. Slice up the brisket into pieces and vacuum seal it along with some of the brine and store in the freezer. Homemade corned beef is much tastier than store bought and easy to make. Once in a while, instead of boiling, we convert one to pastrami by smoking it. Any leftover corned beef can also be made into corned beef hash and potatoes the next morning for a killer breakfast.
