Did you purchase a Titan ?

There are a couple other threads about the Titan, but they are about oc performance and reviews, I want to know, as there seems to be a surprising amount of people, how many of us bought a Titan, from where, how much did you pay and how many ? Also, did you sit online and spam F5 to find them in stock ? What's your Titan story.

If this was a thread about 7770's nobody would care, but as this is being marketed as a truly non-mainstream luxury type card, I think the information would be intersting to see listed out. If there are 10 people here at Anandtech who have ordered this card, it would be impressive to say the least, but I have a feeling it may even be more.

I purchased two Titans, both from newegg, for about a grand a piece.

At first I only wanted one, so I pre-ordered the Asus from newegg. A day or two after, Amazon started taking pre-orders for Titans, I then pre-orderd another, thinking that whichever one still wasn't in stock when the other shipped I would cancel the order on.

Then the EVGA models came IN STOCK at newegg, so I quickly ordered one, so, at one point in time I had 3 Titans ordered :awe:

Stupidly, I tried to order another EVGA Titan, assuming the order went through, I cancelled my other two pre-orders from the Egg and Amazon. I was then informed that I could not purchase two of the same item.

Lame.

However, the very next day the egg had more EVGA's in stock, this time the oc editions, I ordered one before newegg could even update the product image on their webpage. Both cards one day shipping, and I have yet to install them, they are just sitting here 2 feet away from me on my desk

Definately not worth what I put myself through!

What's your story ?

Edit: I'll keep this post updated to keep track of people who bought.

Deltaechoe (1) EVGA Titan, from Tiger Direct.
Annisman (2) EVGA Titans, from Newegg.
Eymar (2) EVGA Titans, from Newegg.
Dookey (2) EVGA Titans, from Newegg.
Grooveriding (2) EVGA Titans, from Newegg.CA
PowerK (2) Gigabyte Titans, from local store (S Korea).
Lavaheadache (1) EVGA Titan, from Microcenter.
DimmyK (1) Evga Titan, from Newegg.
BoxleitNerb (2) Titans, from German retailer.

I bought one from tiger direct the instant that the EVGA orders were available (before they even had finished putting the page up), will be getting it tomorrow and have every intention of overclocking as far as it will go, I basically bought this to have a 670 SLI comparable system with a single GPU

Interesting, that's exactly why I bought mine, would love to ditch SLI but don't want to lose any performance.

So why did I get a second Titan you ask ? Dunno, just wanted another, we'll see what I end up doing with it after I've tested the single one.

Also, are you still rolling with that i7 950 @ 3.5 ?

I also think it would be interesting to see what level of income people who buy these cards have.

Is anybody else interested in that statistic ?

If you guy's think that's too personal or borderlining on bragging then we won't do it.

I have the financial capacity to splurge on these Titans but not the mental capacity, GOD DANG IT!

It's not bragging depending on the income, but going the other way it could highlight stupidity. I don't see a winning situation here.

I see what you mean, I just thought it would be eye-opening to see (for example) "Wow, the median income for all Titan buyers is 80K$/Yr !"

Then I could see why so many people have such a problem with the price, as it would be clearly only targeting the few privileged.

But if it was more like 30-40K/yr, then we could say that it might be more accessible than originally thought. But of course, as you said, it might people look stupid then.

Pretty much same story.
1. Pre-ordered ASUS one as it was first one available on Newegg (last Friday). I also put a preorder on ASUS on amazon.
2. Luckily randomly saw your post(Thanks for that!) about Newegg having evga's stock (my preferred vendor) in the stickied Titan thread.
3. Canceled both Asus pre-orders. I tried to buy a second one on Newegg, but that one got canceled after seemingly placing order (same reason as you).
4. Put myself on notify lists on amazon, evga, newegg for evga stock titan.
5. Then Monday evening, saw Evga oc edition on newegg with add to cart. You know the end to that story.
6. Got 1st evga on wednesday, installed it with no problems (have a non windowed Corsair 700D case and regretting it a bit since these are the nicest looking stock cards I've owned). Only did a few benchmarks at 1Ghz boost oc(3dMark was very close to my SLI 680GTX 2GB). Didn't try single card surround as didn't have DP-DVI active adapter needed for 3x 120hz setup.
7. I got the oc'd evga yesterday and been SLI surround gaming ever since
Crysis 3 @ 5760*1080, FXAA, Highest setting everything, solid 70FPS first level so far so pretty happy with the gaming performance.

If you must know, I'm an "unemployed" (sorta) college student, this card is actually meant for computing projects that I'm doing for school that involve computationally heavy simulation but I didn't want to buy a tesla since I don't need it to be perfectly accurate

Nice. Don't know why you disclosed that, but made me laugh and a little bit intrigued.

Because disclosing just that much doesn't affect anything :B

Anyway, still looking forward to getting a BEAST of a single GPU

I purchased 2 EVGA Titans from Newegg. One is a regular Titan and the other is the SC Signature.

I didn't have to spam F5. I just paid attention to the threads for in stock Titans on different message boards and when they said Titan was in stock I went and purchased.

It's kind of looking like if you didn't get one by now, the only way to get one until the end of march is to buy from the price gougers on ebay

Haha, know something funny ? 3 of us have SLI titans (so far), and all 3 have one regular EVGA model, and one OC edition.

Also, it doesn't surprise me that most who have bought titans, are buying them in pairs.

I didn't buy mine in a pair but I intend to purchase a second one after I get a new CPU and MOBO

I bought two. EVGA SC editions from newegg. Canadian newegg doesn't have the same restrictions on quantity purchased as the US does, so I was able to just buy two in one order. I wanted the cards because I always like the big GPUs, but I really didn't want to pay $1000 a piece, $800 is what these are worth. Price was offensive imo :hmm:

I know I'm going to kick myself when the price drops on these. I also think there is going to be a Titan Ultra or some such thing in the future with the additional SMX enabled, that is going to suck to see as well.

I can afford it, but it's certainly not a flash in the pan for me. I don't have the kind of money where I can spend that much without considering it first. Who does ? Anyone who can just wander around and drop a $1000 on whatever they feel like day in and out is going to have to be exorbitantly wealthy.

Did you notice any difference in performance between 670 in SLI and a Titan? ie microstuttering, unsupported games, etc.

what's the problem with targeting the "few privileged"? Tons of brand names and products aim to exclusively target them! and i wouldn't call 80/k a year privileged by any measure. After taxes that's $4000-$4500 a month net (in Canada atleast), and with the cost of living as it is here it's hardly privileged!

There's nothing wrong with it, and I never said there was.

What I more or less wanted to know was, who was 'ponying' up the money for theses cards.

Back when I worked at a pizzaria while in College, I would save for months and blow my money on the latest and greatest PC hardware, when I had saved long enough. I probably brought home less than 12K/Yr back then, but my priorities were my PC so even spending 1/3rd of my total pay on PC related things was ok for me.

I know who these are catered to, I want to know who is buying them.
