Did you vote for Bush or Gore JUST because you are a Republican or Democrat?

Or did you vote because you agreed with their views.

Oh and no I didn't search on this topic. There are already too many to sort though.

Did they have views? I just figured they were riding their party popularity and the blind and dumb were following suit.

I am registered republican, I voted for Gore. The democrats have done a fine job running the white house the last 8yrs, I see no reason for it to change under a Gore admininstration.

And after voting for his father originally, no way would I vote for another Bush for president.

My family has always been registered as Democrats. My parents were until last year when they changed to Republican because they've voted Republican since 1980. I registered as a Republican myself. I have voted for Democratic candidates. I did so in the current election. I voted for the Democratic candidates who were running against a few local Republicans who I dislike and disagree with. I even voted for a Reform party candidate this time in one of the local races.

I did not vote for Clinton. I voted for Perot, and feel guilty for it to this day.

I voted for Browne because I firmly believe in the ideals that he has represented.

Also, Duke wasn't on the ballot. (j/k)

My first election - voted Gore, due to environmental concerns (don't want to open up 8% of the National Reserve in Alaska).

I don't vote along party lines, I vote for who I feel is the best candidate for the job. I liked George Bush Sr, I just can't stand his son.

I voted for both Republicans and Democrats; I don't vote along party lines, either. I'm a Demoblican... no, a Republicrat...

I'm thinking about registering Independent next time, but then I won't be able to vote in the primaries.

I was not thrilled with Bush or Gore, but went with Gore because I am a tree hugger. <shrug>. I didn't know enough about Browne or Nader to vote for them... it was all I could do to fit the local candidates into my weary brain.

At least I feel good about my vote at the local level.

One thing I learned for sure: People get ugly about this stuff. Maybe that's why I have never really discussed politics before... I have never heard so much bashing in my life! Let me tell you, right now it is suck to be a Floridian and a Cuban-American.

Incoming, Entity! Take cover!

LOL, there is nothing wrong with the way you voted. I voted that way, too. I thought long and hard about it, and that is what matters. Unfortunately, he better not win or I will be looking for a new master.

Crap sakes Jelly! next time say 'grab a hanky', they're renewable. Klenex wastes trees.

Oh and I voted Gore because only he had a chance of beating Bush who was the worst of all choices, a corporation masquerading as a man, not an empty suit, not even a suit, just a back alley coat hanger waiting to happen.

Gore-somewhat better on most issues and not a morality banger.

Moonbeam,

Hankies may be reusable but you waste precious time, water, and electricity washing them over and over again. Tissues are far more convenient, can readily be shared with friends and family without fear of spreading harmful bacteria and, from the Kleenex web site:

<< KLEENEX® tissue is made with biodegradable cellulose fibers. >>
<< Our cartons are fully recyclable with the poly insert attached. They are accepted at recycling facilities across the country. >>

As for Gore and the environment...I truly feel it's the first thing he talks about and the last thing cares about. If you seriously care for the trees you must give your mind, body and soul to Nader and the Green party. Of course that carries its own set of alligator-hide baggage but nobody said decision making is easy.

OUCH, cuz i live in alaska...i see nothing wrong with opening up anwr for exploration...better do the drilling here where we can control it and make sure the environment is protected ....

EDIT: and where did you get 8??? an area about 2,000 acres would be affected by oil exploration.

I voted for Gore, because this nice fellow came to the homeless shelter here and took us to the polls, then gave us a pack of cigarettes...

You'll be surprised how many do. My dad basically paid me to go around handing out Kathy Castor (D) brochures (she lost) around my neighborhood to Registered Democrats. The majority of them said they we're voting all Democrat or asked what party affiliation and when I told them Democrat, they gladly accepted. I think only one who was a Democrat declined, saying he was voting for Victor Crist.

I picked Gore in my state where my vote did not count (Texas).

Many people do not know what power the govenor has here in Texas, most Texans dont. This may possibly beause he doesnt have much and so its hard to find what he can do.

I didn't initally support Gore till after the debates. I was not going to vote till after them and his forum on MTV (that station that used to have music on it) I also saw a Nader speech. Though he as a speaker was weak, I agreed with his view the most even though they would hurt the economy. But I voted Gore out of fear of Bush. Everything else I voted 3rd party just to try to encourage diversity in our 2 party society.

Democracy = Freedom of choice of two.

I am a very apolitical person. Government is fine (hell, it's my livelihood, in a slightly twisted way), but politcs IS SUCK!

I think I vote for Perot over the last two elections (only time I've been eligible). This time, I tried to do my part to keep one of the two major candidates out of DC by voting for the other.
