Still in school, but I fully intend to use my major. Otherwise, I'd have wasted four years. Why do people major in things they can't use???

then i would tell you that the major itself isnt as important as the degree. a degree shows employers that you can put up with 4 years of sh1t, without walking out on a job like a baby.

while that may be true for a few minority, there are millions of computer scientists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, biologists, chemists, physicists, geologists, accountants, etc who neeed to know , and apply directly, what they learned in school
Interesting. I majored in Finance but work in HR now. And thank God. Finance is boring. I didn't even have to think there. At least in HR things are always falling apart so I get to spend time doing crisis management. Much more fun.Originally posted by: bigrash

had 3.5 GPA in computers science from UT, got hired by lockheed to be a programmer a semester before graduation
and thats what ive been doing for the last year and a half
I work for Northrop doing software work, just got hired over the summer. I'd say either of these companies would be quite fun to work for anyone in the computer industry.

does your college degree, for the most part, relate to your job?
