Did your name get shortened as you got older?

I'm having a discussion with a friend named Raymond, and as he got older more people referred to him as just Ray, whereas in high school it was 50/50 one or the other.

Other names that can be shortened generally take on the shorter form in adult years too, e.g. you call kids Christopher, adults Chris, Benjamin becomes Ben, Michael --> Mike.

Most people stick with David, although I occasionally get Dave, but that's mostly from people who just meet me. The thing is though, I never actually state a preference to anyone.
