Thinking back to my youth, I remember the thousands of times my Mother dragged us to church. We went to a Catholic school, so church was mandatory every Sunday, every holy day and every Friday as well during Lent.
Anyway, I remember "the weird people" that would sit around us and scare me, when I was a child. They were the psychopathic types that would sit there during the service and mumble to themselves. Not praying. MUMBLING....staring off, empty-eyed into the distance.
I remember this one woman...she was dressed kinda hippie-like. She went up to receive the holy communion. After which, she proceed to do some kind of "Yoga-Dance" that's how best I can describe it- up on the altar, blocking the other patrons from receiving. The priest would move over, she'd move over, continuing her yoga dance.
Then she turned to explain to the congregation how God wanted her to express her feelings to the crowd...God wanted her to display her "inner peace"....damn freak.
Anyway, that's one of my mental scars from church. I'm so glad I'm a rational adult now and can avoid organized religion like the plague that it is.
Anyone else have any weird church stories.
ps
I don't care if you've been "saved". Keep it to yourself. No one wants to see you climb up on your soapbox. Freak.
