Did your parents pay for...

most of your stuff growing up? I'm just wondering something...my parents for example always made their kids pay for everything ("teaches them responsibility"), but I know other people who learned just fine even though their parents paid for everything. What about you?

If I work hard enough, my parents will give me something. I don't have the time to get a job, so they pay me for my services.

I paid almost 1/4 the cost of my tuba (around $1300 - that's a lot when you're a junior in high school), and have a full tuition scholarship, so they're being a bit nicer to me now.

i voted about 50-50. my parents pay for school and got me my car, but everything else is my responsibility. so i have school paid for now but that is it. anything i want/need im on my own

-And that's a private school, btw. She paid about $35,000 for 10yrs (one I was in public school -which SUCKS compared to the private school- and the other I paid for myself).

Thru jr. year of HS, they paid for everything, then from there on, I had a job during the summer. Dad paid half of an old car, going into my senior year, and I was responsible for gas, insurance (the increase to their bill), my own clothes, spending money, etc. Hey, I still had a place to live, free food, cable, phone, etc. Life was fine. IMO, parents today are a bunch of co dependents to ingrat kids.

My parents paid for 4 years of private school in HS, and bought my first car (a '79 Datsun wagon). Everything from then on, including over 50K worth of student loans, has been mine...

I really can't complain.... I'm in excellent financial shape compared to most people my age (25). I give them most of the credit for that...

My parents own a business. Me and my sibling used to help day and night, because of worker shortage. But my father used to spoil us, since we had to cut our socializing time to help.

Nope. My parents were sooooo cheap that I had to wear the same clothes for years. Actually, I slept in my school clothes at night (yes, in jeans) b/c I didn't have any pajamas. I usually wore the same clothes for atleast 2 days in a row. My parents = cheap bastards. Oh yeah, get this...During freshman basketball I kept getting rashes (chaffing) in the inside of my thighs b/c my underwear was so tight. Solution: My dad cut the bands off both openings to my underwear, so that it would just hang loose around my thighs. Jesus christ! They wouldn't even buy me god damn underwear!

My parents have paid for very little. Recently they've helped a little buy paying for my college, but that's not much at a $11/unit JC. They have helped me with some of the larger car repair bills. I buy most of their computer parts tho.

My parents pay my tution, but I'm an RA, so I cover my own room and board. I don't have a car... pretty much everything else I own except for my clothing I bought myself with money that I earned myself.

I had to pay for everything. They lent me a beater truck and gave my step-bro a sports car. I worked for minimum wage at Wendy's to buy the truck and pay insurance and for xmas and my bday I got money towards insuarnce in place of gifts.

Never was sure how my step-siblings paid for all the crap they had until recently when I found out my drug dealing and drug using now ex-stepmom was funneling huge amounts of money to her children when her and my dad split her kids had 30k, 45k, and 60k in the bank while she ran of with 100k+. I got to keep whatever I brought on the plane with me when I went to my mom's. I had my priorities, brought my computer .

Also had to buy my own food as all the food was her food and off limits to supposedly everyone though basically that just meant I better not touch it or I'll get b*tched out.

OT: My ex-stepmom was afraid to come into my room because she seriously believe I had summoned a demon there to protect it!! lol, some people. :Q

my parents paid for everything and still do. its an investment in my future and for all the good they do me, they want me to take care of them when im older and successful. its like social security from your kids and not the government.

so far, 3rd year in college, willing to pay for grad school, already bought me a new car in 2000, and most importantly, got a new computer 1 month ago so i can start Word in no time. best efficiency for research and doing homework. hehe yeah right, more for gaming and music.
