Does anybody know the difference between socket Sp3 for epyc & TR4 for threadripper. I can think of 3 possibilities
1. The Sockets are the same but the motherboards are different. Eg. Epyc in a threadripper will only have access to 4 memory channels and 60 +/- 4 PCIe lanes.
2. The pin outs are different, maybe pounds 100-200 are for PCIe in TR4 but carry power in SP3.
3. The chipset makes the difference, 4094 pins + x399 is required for threadripper, but x399 boards are barred by firmware from using EPYC.
But these are all suppositions of my part. Can anyone confirm exactly what's up?
