I am going to buy a GeForce4 Ti 4600, but after researching availability of them I notice several different manufacturers marketing them with several different prices. I started looking at newegg first and seen the eVGA Ti4600 for at the time $375 which seems like a good deal except there is no information as in what comes packaged, not even on the eVGA website. I then seen the same card except made marketed by Leadtech for $425. This one at least says it comes with an advanced heatsink, two full-version games (dronez and gunlok), and DVD software. On pricewatch.com I have seen them marketed by Asus, and the typical PNY and Visiontek. Has anyone bought any of these yet? Are there any reviews out yet that compare the different models? Which is the best buy?

I am kinda in a hurry because I just sokd my GeForce3 Ti200 a couple of days ago and had to revert back to my Vanta 16mb. You sure appreciate the things you have once they're gone! I can't play any of my games. This sucks!!

I usually choose to spend a couple extra $$ and go with the mfgr. who is making their own card.

(Gainward, leadtech ASUS, etc...) I steer clear of MSI at all costs... was dubious about visiontek for a while, but

there seem to be a lot of happy visiontek owners out there (go figure, licensed boards and still OK..?.. KEWL!)

That's a lot of money to blow away on a video card. Do you really need all of that power and fps?

They all use the same core and ram, so performance wont be any different from one to the other. Its the extra stuff that you have to look at.
  • What kind of cooling? Is it more for show, or does it really make a difference? Is the cooling quiet or noisy (important to me)?
  • VIVO. Some have VIVO, some only have VO (PNY)
  • Software bundle, games, utilities, etc
  • warantee and support
  • Do you need dual DVI? Gainward has this feature
  • extra stuff like 3D glasses, firewire card, etc
  • Price. Which card has the features you need for the best price?

I just thought I'd chime in, and let you know that my retail Leadtek GF3 Ti200 came with Dronez and Gunlok. Very bad games, Dronez has good graphics I suppose but is not fun at all, and Gunlok was just weird. Definitely not a reason to go for Leadtek, although I'm sure the card itself is of very good quality.

Yeah the days of getting a great game bundle with the card seem to be over.

Basically all GF4s are the same hardware wise. Go through oldfart's nice list and choose based on it.

All I can tell you is I chose to go with the Gainward and boy am I happy with it....this thing rocks. I dont think I have pushed it to its limit yet, but I have it right now at 320 Core / 750 Memory. This thing is made to overclock. Not only that, but I have a window on my case and the red PCB makes it look bad-@ss!

I hope my Gainward comes in Monday! it is the only card on the market that allows me to run BOTH of my flat panels in DVI. You can sure tell the difference between DVI + Analog when they are side by side with 10' cable runs.
