OK,
I've got people telling me that they cannot access "advanced settings" for their primary and secodary controllers under IDE/ATAPI Device controllers, when going through control panel->system->hardware->device manager. But they can find them when going to control panel->admin tools->computer management->device manager.
I have the "advanced settings" in both places? The program being accessed is the same, so why are there different options available for some? User logged on? I am on as a user, with admin privileges, not as admin, but I am the only user profile on the computer.
both instances are verified with XP Home Edition, and clean installs.
Is it a difference between the OEM and Retail versions of XP? I am using the retail version. The other verified instance is OEM version.
