What's the point of tipping 20%? Let alone 15%? Heck why tip 10%? Waiters avg like $22/hour...for taking your order and carrying food...anyone else find that BS?!
Because they have to tip out the bus boys as well as the other food runners. They make min. wage + your tips. So think about it they have to tip out EVERY bus boy and food runner that is assigned to their set of tables. They're also waiting on you, bringing things that you want, they come at your beck and call basically.
so by that, my manager and supervisors should all tip me on top of my salary since i am at their beck and call...dont give me that crap. its their job to wait on tables, thats why they're called waiters.
pwned
Do you work at a restaurant? No? Then STFU. This applies to if you work at a restaurant.
You don't HAVE to tip them. But you do if you FEEL like they've given you good service. So stfu. If you don't tip out the bus boys etc, they can refuse to service your tables, and in turn give you a bad rap with your customers. Once you've worked at a restaurant, then say something. Don't bitch about it otherwise.
EDIT:
Oh wait you said you make SALARY as well. Once you make min. wage. then say something. These people are working per hour. The only reason why McDonalds and such doesn't have a tip jar or anything of the sort is because the company WILL not allow them to take tips.
Their job is also harder than it seems. They have to go through training, they have to be careful about all the stuff they carry and try to be efficient. It's a very faced paced environment (especially around lunch and dinner time) that it's difficult to give 100% to each and every table. That's what you're tipping for. The service. If they do a bad job, you just tip them less. Or if you don't feel that you need to tip them at all, don't.
So you agree with the poster that I quoted, that you shouldn't tip? And you don't in general tip the person that waits on you? Then does that mean you don't tip taxi drivers, hair stylists, full service car wash places, handwash car places at all?
