This is not advertised and is Brick and Morter only. It's an in store flyer that was suppossed(oops! where'd that come from ) to be put out on Thursday 6/13 to run thru tomorrow 6/16. Ran across it today

Olympus C-211 (sku# 2002-1432) Link to specs
2.1 Megapixel digital camara that also uses Polaroid 500 instant film (LARGE camara)
3x Optical

$499.99
-$301.99 Instant rebate
=$198.00 in store

Panasonic PV-SD4090 (sku#2002-3948) Link to specs
1.3 Megapixel that uses floppy or LS-120 disks
3x Optical

$399.99
-$201.99 Instant rebate
=$198.00 in store

As I said this is in store only NOT online. This promotion(4 day fathers day sale) seems to have been overlooked by a lot of stores from what I found out today. Also note that the prices were not ringing correctly in the registers(rebates were not coming off) so we had to override all sales.

I can scan a copy of the flyer if someone wants to host it.

Man these are horrid cameras by even todays lowest standards. Be very careful with the Panasonic though, since it uses its own flash media the SD Media, which could easily be phased out. Stick to CF since its cheap, really cheap, and comes in huge sizes. You get what you pay for.

Thanks for the heads up there Mr. Bundy ... since you were obviously to busy to actually read before responding I'll help ya out. The SD up there stands for SuperDisk not Secure Digital. This Panasonic was/is competition to the Sony Mavica line utilizing floppy disks instead of memory cards.

Both of these cameras are very useful to people such as realestate agents , Insurance agents, law enforcement etc. They are not there to be the "latest greatest" "Oh My Gawd that picture Rocks!" type camera. They fill a niche in the market.

These are good prices for what they are. The olympus c211 is great if you need instant print. I imagine real estate agent, surveyor, lawyers, etc will have a use for them. The Pana SD4090 is really obsolete and I don't see any benefit to the SuperDrive with the cheap prices of memory cards nowadays. Plus, try to pick one up with your hand. It must weigh 7 lbs or more. It's built like a tank and really feels solid. The original price was $499 and it was sold at Sears and OM. I guess OM must be stuck with inventory and have lost tons of money with this. This camera was advertised before for $199 a couple months ago.

Better factor in the price of a set of barbells with either of these clunkers since you'll need to go into training in order to carry them around. $200 for either of these is just plain ludicrous unless you're an antiques/curio collector. The fact that they were $500 two or three years ago is irelevant.

Sorry to thread crap but... just in case someone actually thinks these are worth buying. $200 can buy you a decent digicam with careful shopping.

I did a review of the Olympus last year and it's really a very nice camera. It's large, but it's dual format does come in handy in some situations. I see a lot of insurance adjusters with them.

Wow can ya feel the love here

I know these are not good cams for the "family" but when I see them being bought at higher prices still in the business world this is a good deal. I sold an insurance guy one of the Olympus ones a month ago for $249.99 and he absolutely loves it. I've sold so many of these type cameras and the people love them. BUT they are all business people. It fits for what they need.

The Sony MVC-FD 75 model stills sells for $349.99. Uses floppy only. People still buy them. To someone interested in that the Panasonic is a good deal.

Yeh the Olympus is a large camera but look at all it can do ..... digital shots , instant print , quicktime movie clips , exquisite door stop , boat anchor , unique paper weight , will weight down your truck in winter time for traction , and best of all look at the shape it will get you in with continous use!

Anyway , I'll leave the flyer up a few more hours incase someone is interested. In the mean time , any other uses for the Olympus feel free to post.

Panasonic PV-SD4090
1.3 Megapixel that uses floppy or LS-120 disks.

Is this channel full of little girlie men?
Your really complaining about the weight of these cameras?

How many of the around $200 range cameras out there make you use AA batteries, not an included rechargable like the 4090. And a 120mb LS-120 disk runs around $3 bucks now, how much does a 128mb CF card cost? For $9 bucks you can have 360mb of picture/video storage, and shoot all day as long as your battery holds out-then recharge it the next day (instead of shilling out $10 or more for good AA's or AAA's)

Yeah, I have the 3.3 Mega pixel version SD5000 of this camera. And I also have an LS-120 drive on both my PC's (cause its lame to still own a 1.44 mb floppy drive on a P4 in the 21st century)

Sure enough , guy came in today and laid down $350 for a Sony MVC-FD75. Ya the Sony has a 10x Zoom compared to the Panasonic 3x .... but for the price difference ....

I didn't have the heart to tell him if he had only come in a day earlier ...
