digital camera or compact flash problem

hi, Just got a Vivitar 3615 2.0 mp camera. It works fine until I insert a 128 mb flash card, then it locks up. Only way to get it going again is to pull the batteries out. The camera works fine without the flash card, I'm thinking (and hoping) its the flash card that has the problem, any insights? I would have asked the company first, but it's a long distance call.

i assume you checked to make sure the camera supports 128mb compact flash sticks....so i would try returning the memory to the place you bought it and getting one of the same first, to make sure you just didn't get a bum one....if that isn't it, you're probably gonna have to RMA the camera

here's the manual

it should support the 128meg compactflash card...

can you even get to the setup menu? (with the mode dial on setup)

if so, reformat the card (see page 44) and see if it works

are the leds on the viewfinder flashing when it locks up? are the batteries 100% charged?

Yes, it supports flash card of 128mb. No matter if the display is on, or if I'm in setup, as soon as the card goes in, the camera locks up. If the screen is on, it locks up with the screen on. Only way out is to pull batteries. Batteries are fully charged also.

maybe the card got zapped...

try another cf card, or try that one in a friend's camera, or cf reader/writer and try to reformat it..
