I just got a 2005 MINI Cooper (Got it March of this year). It's so much fun to drive but I've had some problems. On the 2005.5 models, MINI added a sensor for the passenger seat to deactivate the airbag if the person is under 90lb. That sensor went out three weeks into owning the car (the car was in the shop for almost a month). Now I have another problem, and it more serious since it has to do with the paint. I live in Colorado, so there's always sand on the road. A rock chipped the hood, a small chip about 7mm long. But this chip caused the clear coat to come off, so I have a section about the size of a silver dollar on the hood without clear coat and the paint is oxidized. So I'm fighting with the dealer to get this fixed, since they won't fix it since it was caused by a rock (Which shouldn't matter, especially on a car this new.)
So if you want to take a chance on a fun ass car, then the MINI all the way. But be warned that there may be a few problems along the way...
