Would you guys bump it up to the 3yr warrenty so the monitor is covered for 3 years?

I think I recall reading the monitor already has a 4 year warranty.

I have one on order but wanted a better videocard. I learned that the 5150 has a "305w continuous output" power supply. From what I understand, consumer PS's are rated at their "peak" output, not "continuous" output. Also, the 2-12v rails are rated at 18 amps; comments I've read claim that even some 400w PS's aren't rated this high. Anyway, from what I've been able to find, it seems that this power supply should support some of the better videocards, other than maybe the high end.

Since Dell sells the 5150 with an X600 option (about 58w) which is close to the power draw of the 6600GT (about 65w), I decided to buy a 6600GT 256mb to drive the 2007. Also, no extra power plug is needed.

But if the computer comes with a one year warranty doesnt that include the monitor?

Does anybody know if there is any way to overclock this system? I hear the 630 has a bit of headroom but my experience with Dell's BIOS has been that there are no overclock options.

I bit anyways, BTW.

I called and am correct, the warranty covers the monitor too. So its only a one year warranty on the monitor.

Dude bear in mind this is a PCI-E board not AGP.

That memory and that video card won't work in the 5150. It has PCIe, not AGP. And, it uses DDR2 memory, not DDR.

To really make this into a real computer You need 2GB DDR2 667 ram to OC via clockgen.

$115 2GB DDR2 667

Add top of the line video card.

7900 GT Xtreme $299

Dimension 5150 with 3.0Ghz P4 630HT, 512MB DDR2, 80GB HD, CD-RW/DVD, 20" LCD for $599 Shipped

=$1013

For $1000 you got a screaming system and huge monitor.

I don't know what BigJ was talking about PSU - all video cards comes with molex to PCIe power adaptor and 7900GT only uses 50W, nothing for PSU.

Your DDR and AGP card are both worthless for this system.

Bios overclocking is not possible must use a OS utility such as clockgen. Using default voltage 3.8 should'nt be too hard as long as you keep CPU cool.

i believe that means that you can transfer the warrantee over to the next person you sell/give the card to.

Really? I have never heard of this. Any experience using this?

Downloaded and am giving it a shot. No luck so far, doesn't seem to work. Clocks don't change.

The way Dell rates their PSUs is very misleading. I did some research and found that people were running 7800/7900 GTs on the 305w PSU so they are very strong. I bought an E510 earlier this month and am running a 7600GT.

dell underrates their PSU unlike PSU sellers. and their PSU are very high quality. also the practice of using proprietary Dell PSUs is no more (it happened like 5-6 years ago i believe)

If I do get this Dell (still unsure), I may build a computer from the guts of the Dell using my case and power supply.
Keep in mind that this Dell uses the newer BTX motherboard form factor and not ATX so you would not be able to use your old case.
